Nike Zoom Huarache 2 – Spring 2012

It’s Amare Stoudemire’s 2011-2012 signature shoe. Here’s a CounterKicks exclusive first look at the Nike Zoom Huarache 2.

We preview the shoe in three colorways:

- Black/Varsity Maize/Black
- White/White/Black
- Cool Grey/Dark Grey/Volt

Nike Zoom Huarache 2 looks relatively similar to its predecessor but features a new Hyperfuse upper construction and loses the midfoot strap which was a signature embellishment of the first Zoom Huarache Trainer. Nike makes the ride very familiar however, bringing back the same midsole/outsole tooling as the original model and probably ensuring Amare Stoudemire will wear these all next season no matter how many player exclusive shoes Nike Basketball tries to make for him. So how about a Knicks colorway?

These don't look bad. Kinda wish they kept the swoosh placement somewhere else instead of the side though. Too many Nike shoes just have it on the side these days, just wish they'd mix it up a bit more often. That cool grey/volt pair looks pretty good out of those 3.

^ air flight huaraches didn't have a strap. you don't consider them huaraches then?

these look alright, gotta see more colorways.

A shame how a true huarache line got put on the back burner a bit in favor of other things considering how successful the 2k4 and 2k5 were.

The huarache 08 were a fantastic looking shoe, but performance wise it seemed like an afterthought.

These are in the training catalog so I'm guessing they arent really trying to go after the 2k4 or 2k5 basketball angle.

Quick impressions:
-Same exact midsole/outsole as last year
-Essentially the same upper, except no strap and in place of that, a Nike swoosh.

It seems way less innovative and eye catching compared to last years model. As a yearly upgrade, it should be a model that is building onward and upward. Plateau is in full effect just a year later?

Sure, there's a "new" Hyperfuse upper, but the identical mid/outsole, almost identical upper and lack of strap makes it a no-go for me.  The strap, to me, was an iconic part of the Hurache Trainer line...

Doesn't feel like Nike put a lot of effort into this one.

They're whatever. They're clean and sharp but just doesn't have that classic look.


And Nike is really taking that 1 piece upper too serious. Fake/synthetic leather is gonna be extinct for the next couple of years

can we please just have some of amare's PEs from this year?


or retro flight huaraches. they'd tank but i'd love the classic blocking in any TB colorway. shoot, slap a gray gradient/volt colorway on it if you really want, nike. you know you do.
