Nike attempts to update another classic next year. Here’s a CounterKicks exclusive first look at the Nike Air Trainer Classic.

We preview the shoe in four colorways:

- Wolf Grey/Neptune Blue/Dark Grey/White
- White/Fresh Water/Wolf Grey/Anthracite
- White/Fire Red/Black
- Zen Grey/White/Black

Nike Air Trainer Classic features a retro styled upper design stacked on top of the same midsole/outsole tooling as the Air Trainer SC made famous by Bo Jackson. Product launches Spring 2012. Air Trainer Classic will retail for $105.

clas·sic/ˈklasik/
Adjective: Judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind.

They have some Bo Turf inspiration in the heel
nike-air-bo-turf.jpg

And then it just falls flat.

Uninspired colors.
Old school midsole on what looks like an even older upper design.. What is new and improved and classic about this?

First impression was that these remind me a bit of Nike's current tennis lineup, specifically the court ballistec's.. It's like a bo turf heel with the fake webtec, combined with a tennis shoe for the upper. And then some sc trainer midsoles to complete the package. I hate being negative, but I don't get these. Just as uninspired and bland as the tr1.3 mid..

Edit: The more I look at these, the more they are starting to remind me of those obscure late 80/early 90 air cross trainer I-V and the non air varieties. Just super generic, and at the time, all white based with little color. This one seems classically inspired maybe, but far from ideal. I'm sitting here in photoshop trying to make these look right. It's not happening.

I feel like I could see these at an outlet for 40 bucks, I'd stop and think about buying, then just go over to Polo and buy a shirt instead. Just not very interesting

^ This.

Looks a bit boring... an uninspiring mash-up of trainer elements. ehhh... pass.

Not bad. Definitely a step up from the SC trainer 2010's. Both the white-based colorways could get copped.

Someone at Nike does really hate trainers.
Take 2-3 OG models and mix them until you get the worst combination possible.

I think the one who made this is the same that created the horrible ATC hybrid... They always find a way to turn something that works into something that does not.

It'd be nice if it came in a Neon AM95 cw or maybe the Auburn SC cw

Willing to bet though the midsole paint will chip & crack after a few wears

looks like a good everyday shoe for me. I'd prefer it in a mid, but the black and the gray would definitely get put in to the daily "beater" rotation.
