THE OFFICIAL AIR MAX 1 THREAD

Shape looking real iffy on those Atmos. What happend to the Pinnacle shape? Thought they'd be the same. Also I'm not liking the look of the OGs shape but think they'll be better than the Atmos. Infact I'm not even gonna try get the Atmos because every shot I've seen of them the shape looks terrible so I don't want them. Nike stay f*cking up.

Atmos is simply exact the same shape as most China cws of the last years, as I've illustrated a week or 2 ago.
I hear ya, but I mean the pinnacle shape is nice, definitely works for me imo...thats what I was hoping for in terms of Atmos and OGs if not even better....

Just curious, what was the most recent release you actually liked and bought?

Typically mesh have better shape, but I mean the Pinnacles were all leather and they turned out relatively nice - they were good lookin in pics but in hand I really was happy with what I got.

Funny how Nike really did climb a giant mountain just to call off again....how is it THAT hard to fix the toewrap?

For sure. Mesh does tend to be shaped better, but as you say pinnacles were leather and they were spot on. I also think the midsole on the Atmos looks like the garbage we've been getting over the last 7 years. Doesn't look the same as the pinnacles. Nike are disappointing, and when they start dropping GRs and the shape is the same as the Atmos and no one is interested maybe they'll try to fix the shape again. Because I can't see myself wasting money on garbage like that, fair enough I'd be more than happy to purchase same shape and quality as the pinnacles but not these.

I'm pretty sure it's the same midsole, was the first thing I noticed when the pinnacles surfaced.
Different uppers on pinnacles, yes def, different midsole, not at all.

Keep in mind the production dates though.... The atmos were likely done first, next the OGs and most recent was the pinnacle. If so, I think all is well. The shape continues to improve. If not..... then I'm confused with the rest of you.

Nah man, the midsole is 100% different on the pinnacles. The midsole on the Atmos looks the same as those wms one you posted earlier.

i thought we collectively speculated this notion.  a majority of undesirable shape is due to nike using up what they had left before this whole new shape campaign, and then getting better shape out when those resources have dried up.

thank you for this info.

Def not. In side view it's very clear that they are different types. The ones I posted are from Indonesia and none of those have that strong curve in the top edge of the midsole.

I'll illustrate if wanted.

It's cool man no need. They do have more of a curve. But the pinnacles are different to the new Atmos IMO. Way better shaped and midsole is not banana at all on my pairs. Super happy with them.

i think so too it would be interesting to see production dates between the pinnacle and atmos cws

wouldn't surprise me whatsoever if the atmos went into production as early as the past aug/sept whereas the pinnacles are manufactured in late nov/dec so the old shape being used on the atmos pairs is totally a possibility

Yeah, be interesting to see production date on the Atmos. Hopefully that's the case.

To me banana shape doesn't refer to the midsole curving upwards towards the front of the shoe. It refers to the whole shape of the top edge of the midsole, from back to front.

Here's a good example of what I mean
1000

From the back of the shoe the midsole top edge starts (1) as an almost horizontal line, but then at (2) makes a strong curve down to start bending up again from (3).

Now I'm the first to admit that you will find slight variations on this on different shoes, mentioned features will sometimes be less obvious on other pairs.
Especially the (3) part bending up again tends to be less visible mainly on larger sizes, but (1) & (2) always are, sometimes as strong as on this pic, sometimes slightly less.

But if you look at 100s of pics these features are unique to these China releases.
Yes you will find Indonesia and Vietnam pairs that will show hints of these features, but never as strong and not as often as on these China shoes.

Same features can be found on these Pinnacles, although on this pair (3) is less obvious (same features are very obvious on that vague pic of the new Royals in that plastic box).

Compare to my Indonesian pair
1000

where the midsole top edge has a much smoother curve, especially (2) and (3) even almost aren't there.
Again, yes you will be able to find pairs of this shoe with slightly more curves, but never in the same way as the China pairs. This also applies to the Vietnam midsoles of the past few years, they were similar to this Indonesia pair. Problem with the Vietnam pairs was their ever more boxy becoming toeboxes.

The midsole on these Atmoses is the same as the one used on Kumquats, CXs, Safaris and so on, and on the shoes in pic 1 & 2. All made in China.

Anyone know the story behind these? A lot of the pics take you to fake sights so maybe they are fakes?
