The Official Anime & Manga Thread Vol: 三

Does anyone know of any good action anime's to watch, sidenote: I tried getting into jo jo's bizarre adventure by watching the fight between dio vs vampire which was wierd and then watched jotaro vs dio which was even more wierd can't see why this is popular imho

Bento.
Pure greatness

3D2Y special is streaming now on onepieceofficial

I love Yu Yu Hakusho overall, although I'm not a huge fan of the last arc.

I started it a while back. I definitely have to finish it
I can understand that. I did the same thing with Season 2 of Code Grass. Except I'm probably never going to finish it. Neither are you

living out my childhood again. watching yu yu hakusho. on the dark tournament saga right now.

This is one anime I never understood why people rate it so highly(flame suit on). I get the nostalgia factor for a lot of people, plus there's no denying that the characters are great. But story wise it was nothing special and kind of cliche. I enjoyed the dark tornament even though it was oblivious who would win, but chapter black was overrated to me cause it had almost the exact same plot, & sensui had basically the same intentions as toguro. I feel like the last arc could have potentially been the best but was rushed in the end. Just my 2cents, lol.

I really get my jimmies in a rustle when people use the word cliche to describe an older anime/manga that probably built the mold of what you consider to be the standard now.

Anyway, yu yu is good for the action but if that's your only focus then you're missing out on relationship dynamics between the characters that make this a fuller series.

The saint beasts arc was great because it showed how dysfunctional yuske's family was and highlighted his relationship with keiko.
The dark tournament showcased self sacrifice and the chapter black saga juxtaposed ideas of justice. The last saga ended up being the worst one but was rich with character development since they have deeper back stories.

As far as your comments go on the series:
1) why would you not expect the main characters of a series to not be successful in a deathmatch

2)chapter black and the dark tournament had 2 different themes for the arcs and the critical point that differentiates the two is that sensui is a human villain and yuske has only killed demons at this point.

3) yes the last arc was rushed

I think the dark tourney was really well done. It's not like Yusuke's team met no resistance throughout the tourney to a point where the viewer never had to wonder. You knew Yusuke was going to win, but the level of tension remained. It was made in 1990 and still holds up well. Say what you will about Togashi being lazy with his drawings and taking mad long breaks to play dragonquest and write dojinshi, dude can still write a story. IMO, chapter black was weaker than the Saint Beast and Dark Tourney arcs, but at that point I had no idea what to expect. Character wise it was still strong. It brought into existence a former spirit detective who had to create distinct personalities to cope with the burden of killing demons and to cope with his idea that all humans are good and demons are bad being crushed. As for the 3 kings saga, Togashi didn't even want to make that one, and yes he rushed to end it making it a very meh saga.

Anyway, I think this arc in Tower of God is going to be really good. Looking forward to how Baam's team come back. Also trying to see if Koon's plan will workout like he wants or if it alienates him from Baam. Hopefully SIU is feeling good now so he can draw everything he wants in a chapter. At the end of the last arc, his wrist was preventing him from dragging everything he wanted to in chapters. If you guys don't read ToG you should.

I definitely consider YHH a classic for it's characters, I just think the overall plot/storyline was somewhat one dimensional(for lack of a better term). I heard so much about chapter black and how it was supposed to be one of the greastest arcs of all time, but was very underwhelmed when watching it.

This week's Space Dandy
I was wondering since the planet was named Grease if there was gonna be a John Travola cameo, and low and behold the false Dancingan introduced himself as Ton Jravolta.
And then there was that MC Hammer alien and a female King Ghidorah.
And Dandy doing the interpretive dance to opera music.
That number at the end though, Straight up destroyed a planet and made a new one.
As soon as we got a New Dandy last week, he goes and dies in this week's episode (I think) and we now have to move on to a new Dandy in a new universe

that name that you quoted.

Aldnoah Zero :wow:

did shorty really choke the that chick out. please snow bunny dont die just yet

 @ "Please snow bunny don't die just yet"

Son, I did NOT see that coming, but it was sure as hell an interesting turn of events. If she was smart, she would've at least waited until they docked somewhere to do it though. Ship is running on E, they only have one source of Aldnoah. You don't think they're going to investigate that ****?

If you haven't seen yu yu hakusho, it's worth watching. Stream it at least.

I've only watched one episode of One Pace, so I was wondering how smooth the transitions were and stuff since it's a fan made project. Apparently the editing gets tighter and better as it goes on. They fit like 2 to 3 chapters in an episode though rather then 1/2 a chapter.

I'd definitely recommend Yu Yu Hakusho, and i'd say it's probably one of the most well known, and popular anime of all time. It's rare to come across a person who didn't enjoy the series.

@2sappy   I watched the first 2 episodes of jormungand and can't help but love this series the soundtrack during the episodes is kinda dope. How do you guys feel about Black Lagoon and Sengoku Basara ?

Im glad you like Jormungand. Hopefully season 3 is coming soon.
I personally never really got into Sengoku Basara, but I love Black Lagoon. Roberta's Blood Trail (Baile De Los Muertos arc in the manga) is one of my favorite arcs ever. I love me some Revy and Roberta action. :pimp:

I just learned that there's a live action version of the movie Kite with Samuel Jackson in it. :wow:
I wonder if it has those "scenes" in it... :nerd:

I just finished the yorknew arc in HxH and WOW! That was one hell of an arc.

Kinda wild that Dellinger has been in Doflamingo's crew since he was 6 or earlier. I wonder if he's Doffy's son or something. He's currently 16, was 6 at the the time of the Dressrosa takeover, he barely remembers Law, who left the crew 10 to 13 years ago. I think it's 13 so, that would have made Dellinger 3 when he met Law.
Sugar is in the body of a 10 year old, but her actual age is 22 apparently, which means she could have joined after Law left Doffy's crew which is why he didn't know about her last chapter.

Also noticed recently, Chopper and Robin still haven't gotten their numbered chapters for joining the crew like Zoro did in chapter 6 with "Number one", Sanji did in chapter 68 with "The Fourth Person", Nami in chapter 94 with "The Second", Ussop and Franky did in chapter 439 in "Third and Seventh", and Brook did in chapter 489 with "Eighth". Chopper's number would be fifth and Robin's Sixth.

Maybe chopper's loyalty gets tested during the Kaido arc, as a crew full of animals and Zoan users could appeal to him, and maybe Robin's will come after something to do with the revolutionaries. There's also the possibility that giving them numbered chapters at certain time would have ruined plot points like if chopper got fifth when he joined, it probably would have ruined the surprise of Vivi not joining, and if Robin had gotten Sixth during the "I want to live" scene it would have made the outcome obvious, although Oda easily could have added her in during Ussop and Franky's chapter if he wanted.
