The Official Anime & Manga Thread Vol: 三

Hey guys, Just a question for OP readers, has Luffy gone to the grand line yet? Im up to the fishmen part just wanting to know if hes at the grand line after 700 issues kuz right now im not sure if I want to carry on

By fishmen part do you mean arlong park or fishman island? If you're just at arlong park finish that arc and if your not feeling it after that drop it, but he hits the grandline in chapter 100 of the manga I believe so a little after arlong park finishes. Arlong park tends to be where a lot of people get hooked if they weren't early on
Oh ok, Im at Arlong park. But I'm into it enough to carry on, just not sure if I wanted to carry on if it was gonna take over 700 issues to get to the grand line where it seems like all the action is gonna pop off. I'm just comparing it to Naruto too much I think. But atm for me Naruto > OP > Bleach and I gave up on bleach a year ago haha. Gonna give OP a good shot at least until the grand line

After Arlong park, which is most people's favorite arc of the East Blue saga, they go to Logue town which is just 4 chapters then they hit the grandline. OP has a slow build, while Naruto had a much faster start, so if you compare them in that sense then yeah early  Naruto >  early OP, but in terms of whole story IMO, OP>Naruto. I think someone earlier in the thread used a rollercoaster analogy for OP certain parts and arcs of OP feel like the slow ride to top before the drop. You'll get used to OP's pace. It's slower in order to handle details, build the world, and to handle all the characters.

Also Arlong park is where you get the first real in depth tragic backstory that are highlights of the series.

I had the opposite feeling the past few weeks about FT. Since either Erza went blind or Igneel came out of Natsu's stomach, whichever came first, its been going downhill in typical FT fashion. These fights are so weak man, they spout some nonsense about friendship being the only thing that matters and then they beat whoever they're fighting even if they were outclassed before. What was the point of Jenma or whatever his name was being brought back just to lose so quickly? FT arcs fall apart quickly, it just happened later than usual with this one.

Yea the latest chapter did everything you just said in 1 chapter which was upsetting.
The Erza thing was pretty cool imo.

I've always though/known her to be more powerful than what is really ever shown.

the Igneel thing........not sure how i feel about that... that will depend if he dies or not

Apparently the naruto last movie plot leaked. Some interesting information not sure if their real tho

With the Erza thing, she took away all 5 of Erza's senses and then Erza said she can still fight because of the light of friendship or something of the sort. Then they also amplify the pain to a point that even the wind blowing or standing should hurt. Assuming she lost her sense of touch but could still feel heightened pain, the lose of the other sense should be debilitating enough to slow Erza down, but she all of a sudden wins a fight she was equal in at best, prior to the change and they note her opponent is getting stronger by the second. I could understandmaybe if Erza had a special armor she hadn't used yet or something, but they made her situation so poor that she shouldn't have been able to overcome it in a matter of minutes. The situation was too poorly crafted and they gave Erza too much of a disadvantage to overcome with under 10 minutes.

The way the fights are being won isn't appealing. Gray was the only one who used any strategy to win, I don't mind friendship motivating him to stay alive, that's cool and he found a legit way to win.

Also idk if it matters if Igneel lives or dies. It just seemed like a weird plot device to use especially when you have 4 dragon slayers available to use and 2 required pulling an enemy out of nowhere so that they'd have something to do.  Also do we assume Gajeel and Wendy's dragons are inside them as well or are they actually in hiding?

keep going, i was thinking the same thing at first id say once you hit enies lobby you will be hooked :smokin

I just found out that a new Tokyo Ghoul manga started up recently. Time to get reading. :pimp:

Word? I'm on it :pimp:

Also started reading One Piece again from when they enter the Grand Line. Them talking about Laboons friends would never come back and Brooke joining them later down the road, assuring a reunion once the Grand Line is conquered. Great writing, I like this Oda guy

He should be enjoying it way before enies lobby. Enies Lobby is just the point where the series hits a new level.

I think only 6 chapters of the new Tokyo Ghoul manga is out.

One Piece has things like that littered throughout the story, you just gotta make the connections or remember hundreds of chapters later.

Oh I know,.I been caught up since Enies Lobby was happening.in.the manga. Just taking the time to.go back and appreciate :pimp:

Ok thanks guys will def keep going now. See yall when I catch up, aint tryna get spoiled in here lol

Which manga is it referring to?
Boku no hero academia it's got about 9 chapters scanlated and like 20 or so raws out, so it's pretty new, but Jump is predicting it'll be the next big series. Haven't read it yet as I'm letting the chapters build up, but I've only heard good things so far.

That seems cool ill let it get to 50+ and some recommendations before I sart it.

Btw what u said about erza I must have forgotten half of that and now reading what u said makes me not appreciate what FT did. And here I thought it was starting to hold its own. But not with stuff like that

Yeah man at first I thought it was just sight which and the amplified pain. I could definitely live with her winning if it was just that, but I went back to read it and made sure and it was worse than I had remembered. At least they got Gray's fight right, he remembered his friends which just made him adjust his strategy to win rather than getting a power up from it. FT always has potential and the characters have interesting powers, the execution is just poor too often which sucks.
