Maybe make it a prequel of sorts.  Show Alonzo during his first few years as a cop and show how he turned out to be a dirtbag and show Eva Mendes fully nude every episode.

Well it does, it's just that the roles has switched from the film.

Set 15 years after the film left off, the show centers on an idealistic young African-American police officer, Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell), who is appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with seasoned, morally ambiguous detective Frank Rourke (Paxton).

Someone needs to rephrase their question and complain why the crooked cop isn't black.

Dudes just wanna complain about everything.

If the crooked cop was the african american then conspiracy theorists would have a field day about how its just continuing stereo types.

Give the show a chance to actually release an episode before judging :rolleyes

I hope all of these new tv shows based on classic movies fail

Training Day
Lethal Weapon
The Exorcist

Rated R movies turned into TV-14 shows :smh:

My question is, why does Bill Paxton always play a scumbag villian? lol

The show is clearly about the young black guy so idk how you're gonna ***** about the lead role not being black when it's centered around him and his experience just like it was centered around Ethan Hawke in the movie.

Y'all dudes go so hard to justufy

Nobody would be complaining about a black man being cast in a role that a black man originally won a damn Oscar for. Y'all dudes are going to ridiculous levels to justify White washing.

With that said this show will prob be trash black lead or not

They switched the roles and it's set 15 years after the movie with different characters. How is that whitewashing? ****** just mad to be mad

I couldn't even finish watching the trailer with all of the bad one-liners from Bill Paxton.

This and the Lethal Weapon TV series gotta go.

Man this **** looks stupid dumb. Dirty cop script is super corny. Black dude seems scary/paranoid.
Looks like its gona be forced.

If we are talkin crime movies i would rather see a season of heat. Now that i would wana see on HBO.

Looks like trash. It's on CBS too. I see it lasting 2 seasons tops. You guys are reaching hard with whitewashing tho. Stop embarrassing yaself.
