I never owned a pair but have a friend I skate with that had like 4 or 5 pairs (one which he skated). They looked pretty cool and comfortable.

I would too. Just bought royals yesterday.
I wasn't on here when the bred low/royal high released so I don't know the hype they carried, but I have a feeling bred high would draw out the Jordan fans and people on the fringe of sneaker collecting. Maybe not to the degree the Tiffany highs did.

jordan heads didn't go after the royal high sbs or any of the low versions so I would expect the same if they did a bred high sb dunk

At first glance I always think the royals are Jordan's..
I had a pair but got rid of them..I plan on getting them again

There really wasn't much hype here for the Jpack lows/highs.
A lot of people apprehensive to cop over quality concerns. Initial drops were met with concern of if they were going to be hard to obtain. Patience paid off for most who had it, as many people cooked for under retail and copped with little to no difficulty. A lot of on foot pics persuaded those of us on the fence (I only went in for the bred lows, not a fan of the royal highs.).
Unless it had some type of special Hollywood juice behind it, I don't think a bred high would be very hyped either. Jordan heads would likely not go crazy for it because its not really a bred. SB heads would wait to cop on sale, knowing it'd hit the racks.

I would say there was some hype. Sold out quick from the first few shops that dropped them.

They sold quickly when Premier dropped them, but then the next time they came in they were around for a few days. I know I got them on the second stock I think with those Turbo Green/Gym Red highs that are now really marked down. Then as other shops got them people calmed down.

That surprises me. I admit to having been away from the culture for close to 5 years though so I likely have some old minded assumptions still. Thanks for the insight on that.
If I had designed the royal highs I wish the very back part that is royal blue was black. Other than that small detail I like them.

That's actually the reason a bunch of ppl were either on the fence and/or passed on them. That and some ppl already owned the royal 1's so didn't want to buy the SB's. A few others looked at the SB as a consolation for missing the 1's also.
If I'm not mistaken I believe a user in here painted the back of his black and posted the pics here. They look very nice. I don't have a steady hand and enough patience to do that though. Plus I wear jeans anyway so back part is covered.

That was my thought on if bred highs dropped they would get hyped...consolation prize for those that missed on the real thing.
And let's be real...the SBs are cheaper, made of better materials, and have zoom air insoles. Jordan's aren't what they used to be at all...the drop in quality was what made me walk away from the sneaker world.
I remember hearing of niketalk back then but I was on ISS and this place was talked of negatively at the time. I came across here earlier this year looking for an outlet findings thread. That's the only thread I watch other than this one.

I honestly don't remember how I found out about NT. But I know when I initially came to NT I was straight lurker and on JB threads as I thought I knew everything about SBs so I didn't feel a need to ever pop in here. lol But When I found out about diamond hi's I found this thread to be pretty helpful with info and went ahead and created a account. Haven't posted in another thread on NT. THIS IS HOME. 
As far as J's I still grab a pair or 2 but mostly for nostalgic purposes as I used to have a bunch of the OG cws when I was a kid and I thrashed every pair not caring. Now that I'm older I respect them for what they are and get all the ones I had as a kid. I think I have 10 pairs of J's but near 30 SBs.
