MSR, can you explain the difference in materials between the midpanel and the overlays?

If I get a pair that looks like this, can i just sandpaper the leather to white/grey?

I don't believe you can.. but my pair doesn't have the dark panels.. that picture looks like the panels are the same rough "sandpaper-like" leather throughout the rest of the shoe.

and I don't think sand papering would make that turn into this..

the pair you got is pretty much what i hope to receive, but i agree on the mismatch, thats part of the appeal to me. Its obvious theyre still a pair its not like wearing two shoes from a pack.

No the material on the SOMPs is a nubuck that they referred to as Euphoria Nubuck, the QS are just suede, and not as nice as the stuff they were using a decade ago, but then again what is from Nike.

All in all both versatile shoes that can be worn with a whole bunch of outfits.
