Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead?

Just finished reading Atlas Shrugged.

It was the first Ayn Rand book I've read, so I had to get use to her style.  On a whole, I absolutely loved the book

.  Probably because I really agree with Rand's philosophy, but from a literary POV I thought the characters, plot, and speed of the book were awesome.

Even though it's a massive book, its a page-turner.  It gets a little dense in the speeches where Rand is basically just espousing her philosophy via one of the characters dialogue, but other than that, I kept finding myself not able to put it down because I always wanted to know what happened next.

Highly recommended.

personal fav...read monster and native son

Finally finished Dragon Tattoo. It was overdue.

Now reading "A Lesson Before Dying". Few chapters in and I'm already feeling that it will be a great book.

just copped:
Scorsese on Scorsese

Conversations with Scorsese

I Heard You Paint Houses

i CANNOT wait for these to arrive at my door...

Just finished The Fountainhead the other. It was excellent, the message was what you'd expect Ayn Rand but still worth the read. Anthem was also good, a nice short book to introduce you to her writing and philosophy.

Next up is We The People, followed by What The Dog Saw by Malcolm Gladwell.

So far this summer (all finance-related books):

Liar's Poker - Michael Lewis
The Quants - Scott Patterson
More Money Than God - Sebastian Mallaby

I like fiction.
Last weeks I read:
Alchemist
Disgrace
For one more day.

All really good books.

Currently reading: heaven is for real.

I been going ham at borders, since its closing down.

Ghost-In-the-Wires_Gearpatrol.jpg

reading this right now.

awesome book, some of the stuff this dude did to companies and their reactions are hilarious. the man was a genius.

anybody have a good list of self help book?

i read the prophet this summer and also influence: the psychology of persuasion

What I've read since I last posted:

The Education of Henry Adams - Henry Adams
Notes of a Native Son - James Baldwin
Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention - Manning Marable - [I highly recommend this book above all others right now.  It will change the way you look at Malcolm.  For me I grew an even greater appreciation for the man and what he was able to accomplish.  For anyone who has the slightest respect for Malcolm (especially if have readhis Autobiography or are familiar with his story) then this book is an absolute must.  There is definitely much more to the man than what is commonly perpetrated about him by the media, critics and loyal Malcolmites, alike.]
In Cold Blood - Truman Capote

Currently reading:
The Divine Comedy - Dante Alighieri

Next up:
The Aeneid - Virgil
The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck
Mason & Dixon - Thomas Pynchon
War & Peace - Leo Tolstoy

It was far greater than I had expected. Probably the most poignant book I've read to date. It's so good it's disgusting at times.

Highly recommend it to anybody out there, especially those at an impasse in life.
