I couldn't resist doing that. But it's been a long time since I've read something leisurely. All the stuff I read
are medical or other purely factual stuff. Everytime I get the feeling to leisurely read something, I think to myself that
I could be reading something to really better myself.
 
i heard leviathan 666 is a good one.
if you get the chance to read it send some feed back

leisure reading doesn't always mean reading fiction.

Finished I Heard You Paint Houses a few weeks ago.
I just received the authorized editions of the Lord of the Rings trilogy last week; just started The Fellowship of the Rings.

Along with that, I'm reading The Year of Living Biblically.
 
How long do you all take to read a book?

I honestly take my time. I consider myself a fast reader, but I don't like reading more than 50 pages at a time. I just find that it helps better to meld the plot, characters, and theme.

Also, since we are constantly learning and this learning changes our perspective, I find that I can better relate to a character and the relationship amongst/between characters after I've taken some time to just live, away from the book.
 
I take my time also. I tend to forget easily and reread some pages, especially if it's been awhile since I picked up a book.
 
Depending on the book I could finish it in 3 days or 7-9.

Started up Barack Obama's The Audacity of Hope today, really inspired me to write an essay on this country and the way politics are tearing us apart. Definitely recommend people check that book out.

That's about how long it takes me for a short book (~200 pgs).

It's taken me almost 2 years to get through Guns, Germs and Steel though

I put it down for a damn long time due to getting caught up in other books/textbooks. Almost finished though. 50 pages left. Then it's on to Freakonomics.
 
During the summer i was killing books. Now i have no time

It was far too neurotic for me. Maybe I'll pick it up again later.

i just finished reading Don Quixote earlier today. Great story. I almost shed a tear for him at the end.

I'm contemplating whether starting the divine comedy next (Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradisio) or the Sword of Truth series (what the legend of the seeker tv series was based off of). any thoughts?

This is my second go-round, was just too strange the first time.  The story still doesn't grab me, but the writing itself is amazing - dense, allusive, self-referential; worth it just for that.

I was thinking of picking up "at the devils table". Story about the dude that basically took down the Cali cartel from the inside.
 
Tried reading The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon last night and Idk, I couldn't get into that thing at all.
