OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

They, the caps, have ONE star  ONE...

And if teams like Buffalo can be in the WC, so can the Wild.
Just having a WC in Minnesota would generate so much revenue. Maybe not like NY or something cause of the mere population but MN would provide a special WC.

The AVs v MN provided the BEST series in the playoffs IMO.

The game could feature a DAL v MN game. CHI v MN, Peg v MN . STL v MN.... And Target Field would be the Venue which is still a very new stadium.

And BTW, the NHL is/was looking to give MN a Stadium series game next yr... But MN is pushing for the WC in 2016 and with players like Parise (Cap America) Suter (Norris finalist) and the young guns like Brodin, Granlund, Nino, Haula etc.. they have a great chance of landing a WC very soon.

As I mentioned last week, no outdoor game this season. It was supposed to be in February against Dallas at Target Field.
According to an NHL source, the Wild is at the "top of the list" for a stadium-series game and was scheduled to have a game this year. What held it up was timing and logistics, the source said. The Wild wants to make this a huge event by having outdoor high school and college games accompanying the stadium series game.

Um...that one star is one of the faces of the league. Minnesota has what, exactly?

Doesn't matter what the Avs vs. Minnesota did in the playoffs, the Winter Classic is about luring in the CASUAL fan. You know the hardcore hockey follower is going to watch the game...but for all you typed, there isn't a single player on Minnesota who will draw ratings, and for as promising as Nathan MacKinnon, Duchene, O'Reilly, Stasny, etc. are in Colorado, they are probably a year off from being featured.

For as up and down as the Caps are, there is a HUGE reason why they are still considered to be in the WC year in and year out. It begins and ends with #8. You get the casual fan to tune in to watch him play, and there's a good chance you'll probably know the name of Backstrom or Wilson before the day is over.

The WC isn't about sentiments or being attached to your home team. It's about generating revenue for the league and creating interest w/ the casual fan. NHL has done a hell of a job in repairing it's image in the wake of the lockout(s). The Winter Classic is a big reason as to why.

Just give us Colorado vs Minnesota already!!!

Exactly what i just listed, if you think the Avs are a yr off from being featured then what exactly makes Minnesota so different with their young core of players with the addition of Suter and Parise..?

Not to say none of our youth is better than a ROR or a MacKinnon but ... our young guys just beat them in a 7 game series... so wtf is that ****?
And the league would probably put a team like the Avs or Hawks against the Wild.

Again, I dont understand how you're writing off the Wild as they cant get a WC in the next couple of yrs... Was preparing to have CHI v MN SS game for this coming season. And im sure Craig Leopold is going to push hard for the WC next yr or the yr after that.

The Wild's future is promising. IN turn, their chances to host a WC is also

I'm going to hate when they get Thornton, Spezza or Kesler.

You don't have to worry about it being Spezza or Kesler. Kesler won't waive for NYR and Bryan Murray wants to trade Spezza to the West. I do think Thornton to the Rangers is pretty likely, however. If anyone can get Nash back on track, it's Joe. At least in the regular season.

You're right. I still think you guys end up with Spezza.
