OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

that wasn't well thought out by McDavid.

He'll be alright. he'll be back in action before the season ends. Probably before Feb.

Well thought out? Understatement.

It's insane, he's on the verge of 150 million dollar career.

Why would you take on even a fraction of risk?

and risking it on a fight?

Hockey is crazy sometimes. If something like this happened in any other sport other the athlete would be getting KILLED.

Imagine if Jamies Winston broke his hand fighting someone in practice let alone on the field of play, can you imagine what people would be saying?

I'm expecting a "shows the kid has grit." Or "his leadership value shines." During analysis of his fight/broken hand lol.

He was getting after it, bud. *Two Thumb up*
This is what Im thinking. He was caught in the heat of the moment, Im sure.. Im assuming thats what it was. But, like i said, he'll be ok. What he should've done is throw hims to the ground and just avoid throwing punches but at the same time, youre standing up for yourself.

PS: Im not all gun-ho about fighting in hockey. I dont mind it as much. But im not a person who yearns to see them be initiated. Theyre fun to watch and have been part of the game so long that I feel it always has a place but, like many said, I HATE when it's after a clean check. But, whatever. Thats me. If it means anything, I could careless of having a goon or figther in my fav teams roster.

Look how well that worked out for the leafs for like the past decade. I dont believe in that.

Pretty sure Connor McDavid broke his hand in a fight....

Yup.

But im sure it was worth it, you have to change the momentum right?

You drink zima and keep nikki minaj on shuffle....you wouldn't understand.

The "any other sport" argument is SO ******* stupid. It's hockey...it's allowed. Simple as that.

He broke his hand...he'll be fine...and he'll still go #1 overall. It was the heat of the moment and if anything, it's good to see that McDavid does have a bit of a nasty streak to him. He'll be tested next year, for sure. Just about every star player in the league has dropped the mitts. He's a hockey player.

*edit*

He's not going to lose a penny on a future contract because of this. Even if (which would NEVER happen) he somehow had to miss 1/2 of his rookie season due to hand rehabiliation, he's still going #1 overall, bruh.

Carry on, OKB.

Amazing win for the stars last night... klingberg looked like a good replacement for Gonchar already even though jordie benn still sucking up the joint in our our zone

Mcdavid fighting is whatever. You can't say, "Oh, think of your career." Two ******* goons took runs at him in that video if you watch. I'm sure he didn't want to fight but at some point you have to do something.

It's hockey, and honestly, quite a freak accident. Did he break it on the boards? Having your goons stand up for you in the NHL is to be expected, but in this situation, sometimes you just have to prove you'll dance so they goons slow their roll a bit.

It's not a big deal in this instance because he's a lock to go #1, but no NHL organization wants to see their star players, who they pay millions, fighting, risking injuries like this and taking themselves off the ice for 5 minutes at a time. I cringe every time Getzlaf/Perry drop the mitts because I know if they get hurt in a pointless fight we're ******. Leave it to the plugs whose only purpose in the league is to fight.

Also sucks because now we probably won't get to see McDavid go head-to-head against Eichel at the WJC.

Look the end is coming for fighting wheather you agree with me or not thats not really the point.

but what Conner did is still dumb, It's like Stanford Andrew Luck injuring hims self returning a punt.

Fighting has been coming to an end in hockey for the last 25 years. I'll believe it when I see it.

and fighting has been declining consistently every year, classic goons are basically going extinct.

They will never officially ban it, but in 20 years, it will be as common as someone sinking a half court shot.

and with concussion lawsuits, and past enforcers committing suicide, it's just not going make sense form a business and PR point of view.
