OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

Man, if Filip Forsberg keeps dominating the way he is, we're gonna look back at that trade by the George McPhee as one of the worst in NHL history. McPhee isn't an *** like Mike Milbury, but the two of them will be mentioned together due to incompetence when it comes to roster moves.
Being a Leafs fan I think the Raycroft for Rask trade easily tops it.

reading that Las Vegas and Quebec City are "locks" for expansion teams...anyone else see anything on that? wonder how true that is

Where'd you see that about Quebec? All the rumors I've read point to Vegas and one of Portland/Seattle coming in together to even up the conferences. I think QC would be next in line for a relocation team.

David Pagnotta is the lead editor of The Fourth Period magazine, and he’s definitely wired into the circles of the NHL in his business.

Pagnotta has broken plenty of stories in the past, whether it be free agent signings, trades, and business conducted on the part of the league.

His latest report, done in a tongue-in-cheek manner to emphasize just how set-in-stone the NHL’s plans are, describe two cities as “locks” to get NHL franchises in the coming years.

One of them is not surprising. The other, is rather surprising.

Quebec City.

The NHL wants two new teams in the Western Conference. That's a given. Seattle was No.1 on the list, but...their arena issues are a bit of a pain, right now…The NHL wants to be in Seattle. Seattle wants an NHL team…[but until an arena is built] they're "third" on the list. Arena = team…For Las Vegas, it's another step towards E-X-P-A-N-S-I-O-N...The NHL wants to be in Vegas.

Let me simplify things: Las Vegas and Quebec City are locks, according to a well-placed sourced. I can't guarantee this, because, you know, anything can happen, but…(Spoiler: It's happening).

And the NHL also has another wild card up their sleeve depending on what happens with the arena in Seattle and what happens with the ownership group for the Arizona Coyotes: Kansas City.

According two separate sources, the NHL is once again taking a hard and close look at Kansas City, either for expansion or relocation. They're covering their bases, and if the league expands to Las Vegas and Seattle, and ends up having to relocate the Coyotes, this could be their only option.

The Moda Center isn't equipped enough for an NHL team? I mean the Winterhawks play there.

Eff Vegas, they don't even know how to house the Wranglers properly

we need a team in Seattle. Can't believe they would consider Vegas before Seattle or Portland.

Vegas has a new arena being built and potential owners. Seattle will get a team if they get an arena, simple as that.

Yeah. our whole arena battle up here has gone pretty much nowhere

I wish they would build the arena for the NHL, and use it to lure the NBA, rather than the other way around.

Those two boys HATE each other. Going at it damn near every time they play.
