OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

Was at a solid college game last night between Minn-Deluth and Miami. Always like going to the college games :smokin

(Split season tix, went to 5 this year)

 @ fighting like a mongoose. I'm dying over here laughing.

How is Nick Backstrom leading the league in points but somehow wasn't good enough to make the All-Star team?

Dude is CRIMINALLY underrated.

Backstrom is MVP level good

This caps team is actually gunna be very dangerous in the east this yr. Id go as far as theyre my prohibited favorite. Crazy. The defense has gotten soooooo much better. Your welcome for niskanen and orpik. :smh:

Absolutely. I grew up going to Gopher games cause we didn't have an NHL team in MN for so long. Loved those Gopher games.

Man, I don't want to get my hope up too high...but there is just something different about this years Caps squad.

got to meet a bunch of the bruins players in the hotel in St. Louis. was ecstatic when the dude who checked us in saw our shirts and whispered, "the team is staying here as well". in typical hockey player fashion, the guys were super down to earth and cool about fans like me harassing them

got to take an elevator ride with dougie hamilton and loui eriksson. they were happy to have a stupid two minute conversation with me and my buddy

in chicago now hoping our other two doors don't get blown off in a couple hours

Went to see my alma mater UMass Boston play last night and took 2 of my buddies who never went to one. This game did not disappoint as they won 11-1 against Skidmore College. :nthat:

Now, I have my buddies hooked on UMB hockey.

It just wasn't fair. Clean entries, the forwards dangling all over the place, defensemen jumping into the rush and 3 PPG's

Zac Rinaldo got dropped by a HUGE uppercut from Chimera.

Rinaldo didn't even have his gloves off and got 5 for fighting

His rep... :smh:

Yeah he's gotta be pissed about that. Wonder if he'll actually drop them later in the game.

Wow Montreal acting like they wanna win a cup or something. Great pick up for them. I still think theyre lacking a lil of the requisite grit but i dont wanna play them.

Yeah, I don't know much of Sekec. But i love DSP. East playoffs are gonna get ineteresting

I barely know anything at all about Sekac, but I will say this wasn't a great trade for Montreal. DSP hasn't been very good in his time with Anaheim. The lone exception being last years playoffs when he was riding shotgun with Getz/Perry. Tim Jackman has as many goals this year playing exclusively on the 4th line whereas DSP has had extended chances to play with Kesler and Getzlaf and has failed to produce. He doesn't have great hands/shot/offensive instinct. He's decent defensively and can hit like a truck when he wants to. Best case scenario is 3rd line winger.

man sekec is a good player. doesnt get along with head coach dumbo, from what i understand. DSP is a good player, but i dunno. we'll see

I'm skeptical about the trade because I feel like it didn't really add anything to the team other than size. Maybe it's all part of the "process" that Therrien's always blabbering about :rolleyes.

Although he has yet to really produce consistently,Sekac has tons of talent. He has plenty of untapped potential and is still pretty young so I'm kind of expecting him to eventually turn into a top 6 forward and do really well with the Ducks. Hopefully DSP can surprise me but I'm not expecting that much.

At the end of the day, I still believe that Bergevin know's what he's doing since he has yet to really make a bad trade but I was just hoping that Sekac wouldn't get Therriened :smh:

Size n strength were a definate NEED for the habs imo... No way i can fault them for scoopin DSP. not so concerned with his production in anaheim. Hes not a top 6 skill wise player but he certaintly can plug in the top two lines and give u physicality and still some goal scoring prowess. Hes jus needs to play the Simmonds/Chimera role and i think it def improves the squad

Bergenheim to the Wild for a 3rd. Nice cheap pickup by the Wild for a solid 3rd liner. He had a monster playoffs for Tampa back in 2011.
