OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

ready for 184 this weekend, champ?
Is it even worth hitting B-Dubs?

I've got Ronda submitting Zingano in the second round. Rousey would be crazy to try and bang with Cat just because her stand-up is improved.

Holm is a filthy kickboxer, bit raw in the MMA game but she's the next opponent for Rousey down the line. Pennington likes coming forward and she's going to be TKO'ed. Perhaps first round even.

Ellenberger and Koscheck is two washed up, over the hill fighters who both badly need a win. Ellenberger is slightly less finished, I'll pick him to win.

Now Ferguson I like, even though he got a gift decision against Castillo. Tibau is experienced so probably a decision victory for Ferguson, although Michael Johnson finished Gleison in 2013.

2 wins in a row for the Leafs

(Really pissed off though we're suppose to be tanking for McDavid

Personally, I think Price will win Vezina, but I wouldn't say he's going to be the "far and away" winner.

Gonna have some stiff competition between him, Flower, Rinne, and Holtby. We'll see who really separates themselves from the pack down the stretch.

Rinne and Price have already separated themselves from the pack imo. They've been by and large the 2 most dominant goalies in the league on the teams with best records in their conferences and they also lead just about every goalie stat category.

Obvious bias aside from me,we definitely would NOT be anywhere near 1st without Price . Rinne has arguably the best defense in the league in front of him while Price has a few rookies and recent call ups from the minors up front.

I feel Price has truly separated himself since the All-Star break. His recent form is astounding, particularly as a road warrior. Although the stats are very close and similar, Rinne missed 3 weeks to injury. Price has only allowed 10 goals in his last eight starts.

Numbers show Canadians are basically a two line team. If you replaced price with an average goalie I suspect they would be struggling to just get into the playoffs.

you think the drop off would be THAT significant? not saying you're wrong, i guess it just shows how ******* **** my team has been. the canadiens skate circles around us this year

"it has nothing to do with term & money. The Leafs can open the vault [for Babcock]. aside from money, and money motivates all of us, Babcock wants to win & he's not winning in Toronto. something sticks w/ me. I had a conversation w/ Babcock in the off-season. He said if he wants a project he'll stay in Detroit. said Det is a project that he knows well & I know what the approach is. That project has turned out to be a good one this season. [Babcock's] not looking to be part of a rebuild. of course, if the Leafs magically win the lottery & win McDavid that will have an impact [on Babcock]. I'm watching 2 teams [RE Babcock]: the Bruins & the Ducks. if things don't go well there [Anaheim] there's the potential for a change in Ana. That's what Babcock is looking for. (jokingly)Babcock loves his son but he might disown him for Getzlaf. That's the type of opportunity I think he's looking for."

^Dreger's thoughts on the radio today on the Babcock situation.

I love Boudreau, but Babcock is the one guy I would kick him to the curb for.

Source: #Blackhawks and Capitals have had dialogue about possible trade involving Patrick Sharp.

Hmmm....

I can almost guarantee that after the Forsberg debacle, you won't see either Burakovsky or Vrana included in this potential deal.

A VERY uneducated guess....Laich + Johansson/Carrick and a future 2nd.

*edit*

@TramyersCSN says the Blackhawks inquired about Joel Ward. Deal expires, becomes UFA at season's end. https://t.co/SvVIjKTodP

Ward + Carrick + future 3rd.

I don't know maybe that's an exaggeration.

last I checked they basically get kilt whenever PK or Markov are not on the ice.

EDIT

I checked 22nd in possession, but they move up to 8th in possession when the game is close (tied or within 1 goal) but 21st when trailing by more than 2.

so im guessing thats because, Markov and Subban played the majority of the minutes in close and the checking lines they send out to hold leads suck.

It's just a guess looking at the numbers.

plus I think it's safe to say at this point Bruins don't match up well with the candians.

It's a bit of an exaggeration because of how much Beaulieu and Tinordi have stepped up in place of an injured Emelin and Gonchar over the last few weeks but the point you're making is still valid,it gets a LOT tougher when those first 2 lines are out.

Things seem to be improving though since some of the young guys have slowly started to emerge and a few key players are expected to be coming back from injury soon. Also, I'm fully expecting Bergevin to go after a defenceman before the deadline so our blueline should be looking more formidable come playoff time.

Fleischmann to the Ducks for Heatley and a 3rd.

:pimp:

Fleischmann and Sekac are exactly what we needed up front. Now Bob just needs to get a real top 4 d-man for Fowler to play with.
