hawkflight, if Pavelec gets $3.9 per, what does Gus, with comparable numbers, earn? $3? Sets a horrible precedent. And yet, Halak, Howard, Lehtonen, Niemi, and Anderson all have a smaller cap hit than Pav.

Honestly I have no idea what Gus would get, or even if he will sign with us. I would be perfectly happy with a goaltending duo of Pav and Mason next year and because the pick we gave Toronto for Gus was conditional so if he walks then we don't lose the pick so it doesn't hurt us.
And while a $3.9 mil cap hit seems like a bit much for Pav right now (I'll admit, it probably is) if he continues to improve the way everybody thinks he will then in a couple years it will look like a very good deal for the Jets. And it's difficult to compare Pav to other goalies because he's worth so much to our team, so if it takes a bit of an overpayment to keep him then I'm perfectly happy with that. Plus its not like we have a payroll thats right up against the cap so it's not a deal that is going to severely limit what kind of moves we can make in the future.

that deal for Wideman is unbelievable...
i took a look at the bruins cap situation just to compare, dennis seidenberg makes 3.25 mil per, bergeron makes 5 and just won the selke..
kiprusoff is gonna straight up quit during the middle of a game this year.

Wow, why are the Flames overpaying for a slightly above average defenceman? They should have gone after Ryan Suter with that money they threw at Wideman

The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to announce on Sunday that captain Sidney Crosby has signed a 12-year, $104.4 million contract extension.
Crosby, 24, was entering the final season of a five-year, $43.5 million US contract extension signed in 2007. For each of the first four seasons of the last extension, Crosby was paid $9 million, and $7.5 million in 2012-2013.
Crosby, who has already won the Hart Trophy, the Art Ross and Rocket Richard Trophies and the Stanley Cup before his 25th birthday, missed the second half of the 2010-11 season and most of 2011-12 because of a concussion and neck injury.
He played the final 14 games of last season (on top of the eight he played in the first half of last season), tallying six goals and 19 assists in that stretch. He also had three goals and five assists in six playoff games.

22 out of the 24 skaters from last year are signed for this season. Gotta give Dean Lombardi a lot of credit.
Waiting on what they'll do with Penner. Dwight Kings is definitely coming back. Might get something similar to what Colin Fraser got or slightly higher.
