First Team:
1- Kidd
2- Iverson
3- Garnett
4- Duncan
5- Shaq

(just like the thread starter)

Second Team:
1- Nash
2- McGrady or Kobe
3- LeBron
4- Brand
5- Shaq again (his domination at the 5 early in this decade has disqualified all other centers from being a 1st or 2nd Teamer)

Third Team:
1- Chauncey
2- Pierce
3- Vince
4- Dirk
5- Amare

I really want Melo on my 2nd or 3rd Teams, but I can't find a place for him.

Dead Last Team:
1- Smush Parker
2- Ricky Davis
3- Samaki Walker
4- Olowokandi or Kwame Brown
5- Slava Medvedenko

--I agree with every aspect of this near perfect list except putting AI over Kobe. This is the 2000's decade list. AI and Kobe came in the league in'96.

From 1996 to 2007 AI > Kobe, because AI came into this league guns blazing..... but from 2000 to 2007 Kobe > AI.

After 2000 and on Kobe has better than AI on an individual basis, and arguably team basis. (post-Shaq)

Why not go with AI and Kobe, and leave Kidd to the second team?

AI
Kobe
Bron
Duncan
Shaq

Easy.

So you really can't go wrong with either, but Kobe's rings and him even being able to score the way he did WITH a dominant Shaq on his team get him thenod from me over A.I.

My '00 All-Decade Team
1st Team-Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal
2nd Team-Steve Nash, Allen Iverson, Lebron James, Elton Brand, Dirk Nowitizki
3rd Team-Chauncy Billups, Tracy McGrady, Paul Pierce, Rasheed Wallace, Amare Stoudamire
Honorable Mention-Dwayne Wade, Yao Ming, Vince Carter, Chris Webber

A lot of yall aren't even making sense. How does Vince Carter not make it when he has the 3rd highest ppg total of any player in the L that is a 5 yearvet. People just like to hate on him, period.
eyes.gif

Vince Carter has career averages of 24 points, 5.5 reb, 4.1 assists.
Kobe Bryant has career averages of 24.7 points, 5.2 reb, 4.6 assists.
Allen Iverson has career averages of 27.8 points, 3.9 reb, 6.3 assists, not to mention 2.3 steals.
Tracy McGrady has career averages of 22.4 points, 6.2 reb, 4.6 assists.
Paul Pierce has career averages of 23.5 points, 6.5 reb, 3.9 assists.
Ray Allen has career averages of 21.4 points, 4.6 reb, 3.9 assists.

If anything, its Ray Allen that gets left out of the discussion.

And yes, C-Webb deserves A LOT of love in this discussion because before his knee blew out, he was a baaaad boy. Even after his trash years of late, he stillboasts career averages of 20.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.
99-00 - 24.5 points, 10.5 reb, 4.5 assists
00-01 - 27.1 points, 11.1 reb, 4.2 assists
sick.gif

01-02 - 24.5 points, 10.1 reb, 4.8 assists
02-03 - 23.0 points, 10.5 reb, 5.4 assists
03-04 - 18.7 points, 8.7 reb, 4.6 assists (straight from microfracture surgery)
04-05 - 21.3 points, 9.7 reb, 5.5 assists (on 1 leg)
05-06 - 20.2 points, 9.9 reb, 3.4 assists (in Philly on 1 leg)

If your name ain't Tim Duncan or KG, you are NOT messin wit that at all. I remember that game when he had his career high... it was something like 51points and 26 rebounds.... in the SAME DAMN GAME.

He makes 3rd team to me... EASY

First Team (AI and Kobe BOTH have to be on the team. It's not even really all that debatable

Second Team
Jason Kidd
Tracy McGrady
Lebron James

Third Team

Dirk Nowitski

Honorable Mentions - Melo, D-Wade, Dwight Howard (those 3 will be replacing some names before the decade ends. But this is where it stands now) and RayAllen

can someone explain to me why VC gets the thumbs up for an all-decade team?
Why wouldn't he? He's done more than other SG's in being the go to guy on a team & in putting up great all around numbers (besidesKobe as the 1st choice). He was the leader in Toronto & put up great feats there in his tenure. Then coming to NJ & having great career years. I thinkif you look at other SG's in looking to sort out names for this list, his name would come up 2nd behind Kobe, & deservingly so.

1st Team
1- Kidd
2- Kobe
3- Garnett
4- Duncan
5- Shaq

2nd Team
1- Iverson
2- Carter
3- LeBron
4- Dirk
5- Webber

3rd Team

3- McGrady
4- Brand

Easy.
Because Kidd > Iverson as a point guard and as a player, but especially as a point guard.

Vince Carter has a higher career average than Kobe only because he came into the NBA at 21 vs Kobe at 18

Since 2000 Kobe has been the best SG/ Sf in the NBA.

With that said if you dont look purely at stats then your top 5 based on impact would look like this

Kidd
Bryant
James
Duncan
SHAQ

To me you cant be on this list if you dont have NBA finals experience and or titles and dont excell against all challengers.

Kidd, to me the only player that could compete with Jason on both ends was Gary Payton. Gary's prime was more so Mid 90's early 2000's thus he isommited.
Bryant from the generation that watched Mike grow up that includes VC Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Tmac etc its clear he is the best.

When Tracy was in Orlando there was a bit of a challenge but now the challenge comes from a different generation.

Lebron has no challenger not named D wade or Kobe Bryant his stats are insane and he is learning how to lead.

Duncan is better than Garnett and C webb's prime was at the beginning not the middle or the end

Shaq nuff said.

Allen Iverson's position has varried. it would be unfair to match hom up against Kidd or Bryant his size limits his peak bu he is def a hof'er

Agreed with CWebb's production. But........

Starting with the 2000-01 season Webber ended up missing 157 total games. And that's not including this season. The guy was obviously a beast but I'mnot sure 2nd team All Decade would be right with the games he was "not" producing for his teams. But that's just me. I do see though the lack ofCenters we've had so Webber could be grouped differently possibly.

You also omitted Steve Nash completely, even off your Honorable Mentions?
1st Team
1- Kidd
2- Kobe
3- Garnett
4- Duncan
5- Shaq

2nd Team
1- Iverson
2- Carter
3- LeBron
4- Dirk
5- Webber

3rd Team
1- Nash
2- Pierce
3- McGrady
4- Brand
5- Amare
While there is no denying Vince's god given abilities, there is probably not a personnel man in the league who would agree that Vince Carteris 2nd Team while Steve Nash is 3rd in the same guard grouping.

Good to see Brand getting a lot of love too

I agree with those who listed Shaq twice, that's about right
laugh.gif

1st team

Allen Iverson
Kobe Bryant
LeBron James (he's young, but the SF position has been weak this decade)
Tim Duncan
Shaquille O'Neal

2nd team

Jason Kidd
Vince Carter
Tracy McGrady
Kevin Garnett
Ben Wallace ( I can't believe he's gettin no love
smh.gif
)

VC? Dirk?
roll.gif

I ignored position specific picks and went with the best players.

1st Team
Kidd
Kobe
Bron
Duncan
Shaq

2nd Team
AI
Ray Allen
Tmac
KG
Sheed

3rd Team
Wade
Melo
Matrix
Wallace
Amare

Players that could make an argument
C Webb - I would put him on a 90's roster
Nash - hasn't been consistently great...good, but not great. Has had a luxurious amount of finishers in Phx. More than the average point guard and morethan he had in Dallas. The free flowing offense has a lot to do with it.
MJ - skills yes. Physically done. He gets a mention for doing what he did at that age.
Yao - only because he is a true center in a league of no centers.
Zo - same as C Webb. If Yao can make a argument...
Dirk - Won an MVP...but lost in the first round. Shoots fadaway jumpers on point guards. Can't live up to the greatness that people want and have triedto lay on him.
VC - greatest dunker of all time? Popular, very skilled, too soft...but not Dirk soft. Was on his way...
Brand - could've cracked that list. Stuck on mediocre teams. Boozer is on his heels.

That is all kinds of flawed.

Brand not on any of the 3 actual teams?
laugh.gif

Wade over Nash for your final PG spot?
laugh.gif

Oh wait, you didn't do position specifics, which only draws another
laugh.gif

Melo over Pierce?
laugh.gif
I'm a Melo fan, but I couldn't list him because there were three other SFs better than him the last 7 years.

Oh wait, I forgot again; no position specifics.
laugh.gif

MJ getting an honorable mention for just 2 years of service?
laugh.gif
If someone is going to be mentioned on all decade team that is 7 years complete, that guybetter have averaged a triple double one year, or 38, 9, and 7 or something.

Bron on the 1st team?
laugh.gif

1st Team
1- Kidd
2- Kobe
3- Garnett
4- Duncan
5- Shaq

2nd Team
1- Iverson
2- Paul Pierce
3- Dirk
4- Webber
5- J. O'neal

3rd Team
1- Nash
2- Carter
3- McGrady
4- Brand
5- Ben Wallace

Honorable Mention:
Michael Finley
Rasheed Wallace
The entire 03 draft class- they've only played 4 years now
laugh.gif

Peja Stojakovic- As money as money could get
Jerry Stackhouse
Antawn Jamison
Ray Allen
Steve Francis- c'mon now before he left Orlando we all thought he'd be the next great thing.
Shawn Marion- been doing it since his second year
Stephon Marbury- Pre Suckiness/NYK

First Team
1. Kidd
2. Bryant
3. Garnett
4. Duncan
5. S. O'Neal

Second team
1. Nash
2. Iverson
3. James
4. Webber
5. B. Wallace

Third team
1. Payton
2. Carter
3. McGrady
4. Nowitzki
5. Brand (Not a 5, but deserves it more than Stoudemire or Yao)

(And the apostrophe goes before the zeros, not after)

The MJ mention was nothing more than that.

As far as being position specifc, none of these players are foreign to the positions that they are listed at. With Kidd and Bron, I don't need a thirdpoint guard. Tmac, AI, Kobe and Wade have all spent significant time as their teams primary ball handler. Seeing that this is an all decade team, there is notone guard on this list that I would consider leaving off of for Nash. These players supercede positions. You act as if I have guards at the 4 and 5.

Brand over KG, Duncan and Sheed? No. He can replace B Wallace. I'll give you that.

I'm not going to even go any further into this whole Nash thing because everyone is convinced he's this point god, although he didn't become greatuntil he got into a free wheeling system with some of the best finishers in the league. This man has had Amare, Matrix, Joe Johnson, Grant Hill, Barbosa, Bell,Tim Thomas saved his%*@% against the Lakers...there is no room for him on this list. At least Dirk made it to the Finals.

But seeing how long winded you usually are, this is my 1st and only response to you. My picks aren't an indictment to other players that could possiblymake this list. It's a list I came up with off the top of my head. With time and much more careful consideration, I could possibly make some changes. But Iam very confident with that team I put up.

Carry on smiley guy... (

Yo, you are 100% correct man. I was at work tryna type of my list and multitask when I was supposed to be working
laugh.gif

I think Nash absolutely should be on the list, probably 2nd team, and at the least 3rd. Which would end up with me ommitting Chauncey Billups.
