RUN with US on INSTAGRAM #NTrunning (NikeTalkRunning)

I was looking at my archived running logs before Nike+... I've been playing Pokemon Go since 2011!

Back in the Team Lunar days!  I guess this thread was just the progression of that one... Thanks for #ntrunning Illy!

just got back into running about a month ago after taking a few yrs off. was doing pickup basketball as my cardio, but even that, i sort of stopped over the last yr.

the first run back was absolutely brutal. don't even think i got a mile in before my body just shut down and i gave up. slowly easing into and been able to do 2.5-3 miles. not as fast as i use to be, but just trying to get my wind back and get them lungs use to running. running up hills and in sand is still a challenge, hopefully, i get the strength in my legs back soon

what do ya recommend as far as apps go to track your runs?
how do ya carry your phone when you go running, do ya run with the strap on your arm? been holding onto my key and phone in my hands

I don't run with my phone. I get the running shorts with the zip pocket in the back for my keys. I track my runs with my Garmin watch that is linked up with my Nike running app.

This is my method now, as well.  I do have an armband, but I haven't run with music in almost a year.

I want a GPS watch that will connect runs to nikeplus and something that plays music to those Plantronics headphones mentioned above. Is that too much to ask? Basically get rid of my armband and phone altogether. The closest thing in my short research has been the TomTom Spark with music, but one review said you can't advance the song at all.

Is anything out there better than the Spark for this right now?

BTW, in currently using an old iPhone 4s with an outdated nikeplus app on a stinky armband, and I mean stinky. I do not smell like fresh flowers, and that armband sure absorbs a lot of sweat. Tempted to just go without music for a while, but I'm very addicted to getting that mileage on nikeplus.

It shouldn't be too much to ask, but I don't know of anything.  I ditched the music, and at least feel a little safer running because I can hear cars now (I run a few routes with no sidewalks).

Welcome! I use mainly NIKE+ these days since I've logged over 5,000mi on it. I've had brief stints with RunKeeper and Map My Run. If you don't have a lot of mileage already logged on a particular app, I'd suggest giving them all a try to see which one you like the most.

I always carry my phone (for music / tracking runs simultaneously) with me on my runs, but I have a Garmin vivoactive on my other wrist. I also wear a handstrap, so I could glance at my phone here and there.

After being "confined" to a treadmill for months, I finally started running outside again the other night.

Felt so refreshing.

Going to make it a habit to do my daily cardio via outside runs.

Just joined the Nike+ Running app, too.

Add a papi (same SN).

I only run with flipbelts, it's just a belt that you wear, unnoticeable, under your shirt. Wearing the strap on my arm was not comfortable, with the belt it's like I'm not even wearing it..unless I'm doing 10+ miles, then it starts sliding a little in the back, but it's not that bad. I highly recommend the belt! I only use it for my iPhone 6 (with no case), anything else added, it feels too weighted down. So many times I'll finish my run and be on my way home, forgetting I have it on still. They're machine washable as well, so that's a huge plus.

If the Apple Watch had GPS, it would be amazing. The watch has Bluetooth and storage for music. I still own one, no complaints really, I like it for checking my heart rate and things without taking my phone out during runs.

Just discovered a website that can convert my old Garmin Forerunner 305 data to nikeplus.  How did I not find this sooner?!

I have probably about 600 or 700 miles from back in 2009-2011 that I can convert to nikeplus miles!  My iPod Nano with the Nikeplus sensor was acting funny for quite a while, and though I still used it quite often for the music, I started using the watch for the stats, and eventually just ditched the Nano until I got a phone that could handle the nike gps app.

Since I'm only about 17 miles away from volt level, I'm going to let that play out, but then I'll be going back to export some old data from my garmin computer app.

The website is https://www.awsmithson.com/tcx2nikeplus/ and it says that the .tcx filetype should be able to bring over gps data, but it looks like my "garmin training center" doesn't provide the data quite right, since it looks more like pedometer data when it shows in nikeplus.

But as long as my watch keeps working, I might try going back to that and ditch the music for a while.  And the sweaty armband...

GET IT, Tim! :nthat:

I own/sell a running belt product. If anyone would be interested I can give you a deep discount on the product for all the runners here. Holds your phone, nutrition, keys, etc. Let me know if you'd be interested and I can create codes (it's distributed and sold on Amazon).

Did battlefrog today. Took more out of me than expected. But can't wait to try it again next time it's here.

Interested!

Info? I like the flipbelt because it's not seen on the outside, it's under my shirt and conceals my phone great.

400

16 mile run today went good. Messed up BAD by not wearing a hat, sun was just destroying me :x, was sweating a lot after 1 mile. Luckily it got better on the way back

That Clifton 3 review makes me want to find another new Clifton 1 all the more. Over 10 oz for a size 11?! That's almost Vomero territory!
