Odd that an employee at a shoe store would tell you they'd prefer you not try on a shoe. Regardless of how limited it is, a shoe is a shoe. That's terrible customer service. I went to Bait on Melrose and tried on 3 different sizes of the HAL's. That employee just lost a potential buyer. I have the FP's in a size 10.5 and I bought the HAL's in a size 11. The leather lining on the HAL's is not as soft as the FP's so I went for my true size 11.

Sounds like I possibly passed on my size when it was right in front of me lol. Seems like a lot of people's opinion is that fit closer to l their normal GL3 size than to .5 size big. Oh well, they're a nice shoe and I'll try making more calls to stores that got previous 25th Anniversaries and didn't have them yesterday and maybe there's a few online places that haven't released theirs yet either. I spend too much anyway, so I guess it's money saved if I completely strike out.
But to your point, I agree, it's bad business.

haha I bought it for my boy, Ds sz 10.5 for 400. That's a great price for those.

Not really surprised that they turned him down. I've even seen footlockers turn people down who want to try different sizes on launch product if people lined up for it. I think trying stuff on is fine... even if it's limited if the shoe if it's just sitting on the wall in the middle of the day. I also understand from a customer's standpoint because some people want their shoes to be DS when they buy them and if they've all been tried on, it might put off some potential buyers as well.

Deadstock is a big deal to a lot of people, whether by preference or because of resale. With limited products I'm not surprised places won't let you try them on.
Someone gets a creased un-DS pair from a shop and that might put a dent in their reputation.

Depending on what shoe it is, there are times where I don't buy them because they are a display or they were clearly tried on. If it was limited, sometimes you have no choice but to grab the last pair regardless of it's flaws. If it's something like a GR, I'd prob pass and try to find a DS pair.

I normally don't care if it has been tried on, but I've never seen it from the store's perspective with regards to the second part of your quote. Repped.

So how come some retailers mark up the collab GL3s from retail $180 to $200,
and some even above $200, like $230 or even upto $250.
I know some boutiques are known to put up a higher price mark on purpose,
but how come some really well known places jack up the price when other shops sell it for $200, or $180 before tax?
I ask this because I was thinking about copping the 'Dotty' by Colette (yes I like these) but for example,
boutiques like FEATURE LV has them up above $200.
and some even above $200, like $230 or even upto $250.

Once a shop gets a shoe they can charge whatever price they want, but the majority of shops will stick to the sticker price. And the pricing for the 25th's were consistent until the Colette's. Mita's were 160 then packers, titolo, concepts, and afew were all 170, though concepts did charge 150 when they got titolo's. Colette's, Bait's, and Foot Patrols were all 200 for some reason, while Atmos was at the normal 170. Now Hal's were 180. It's just been inconsistent pricing.

happens to be the most expensive, sitting on shelves in my size ...

Thought Cncpts were $185 or so.....remember it coming out to right over $200 total. And if I remember right, wasn't Colette retail $200-$220 depending on shop?

No problem, man. But as for the more expensive pairs sitting I think it has to do with people not being fan's of colorway, materials, etc opposed to the price. For example If the Hanon's end up being 200 you won't hear anyone in here complaining about 200 being a steep price. And If they do, they're still going to be trying to buy.

Concepts were 170 at other shops that got the release, not concepts itself more than likely because of the special box. And Colette's were retail 200, but like I said in the post...a shop can charge whatever they want on a shoe once they receive it hence some shops charging 220.

I don't own the Cncpts 25th Anniv. GL3s, but it seems like they hit it below par than usual.
What do you guys think? No disrespect to the shop or the design.
I could never get most of the releases for retail any way, just got really lucky with the HALs this weekend
and likely to snag a pair of Colettes on eBay.

I only own two, but in my opinion man I enjoyed every pair aesthetically besides colette's, atmos, and foot patrol. Colette's are too wild, atmos too plain, and foot patrol's I'm not a fan of olive green. It has to look good to me before I care about quality. Like people hate on the quality of koi's, but you can't knock the design. The shoe's going to be worn you know, not sitting on a table having it's ultra premium materials petted. Lol.

The retail was $200 on dotty. Not sure if you know but feature adds $13 on top of every shoe to cover the cost of shipping. That's why you don't pay extra for at check out and it's priced at $213 ($200 + $13 for shipping).

Try heading to your local FL or FTL, they have a good amount of different model asics you can try on to figure out the sizing and comfort
