The team picks you, not the other way around. I'm a barca fan because of family there. Plus, they down with Unicef.

FIFA has ALOT to do with that

I think I have it narrowed down to Milan, Real and Chelsea

Depending how serious you want to be, always choose the club before the player.
Clubs last forever. Always nice to find one with a bit of true history.
I.E. NOT CITY specifically

Soccer is a great sport to follow, always matches on, so many different leagues, styles, etc.
No commercials

To follow soccer you don't necessarily have to have a club to support, but it
might be better to just follow a certain league for a season.

Great to see some fellow Yids on here, but sadly doesn't seem like
Spurs will ever take that next step to really push, annually for a top 4
position. Almost to the point where I would rather us just sell Modric
than have to deal with the constant rumors, pending a big striker coming in
before the deadline.

I'm a diehard Oakland Raider and Golden State Warriors fan. I have a lifetime of experiences connecting me to those two teams.

Even though I've liked Arsenal FC, AS Roma, and Olympique de Marseille for almost a decade now, I can't act like I have that connection with those teams, it would just be artificial.

I actually really like Arsenal, probably the only team I try and catch every single weekend. In the future I could see myself feeling comfortable enough to call myself a true fan but there's no rush for me. 

I'm just saying, picking a team and trying to forcing yourself to ride or die isn't the way to go. Let it come naturally. Of course there are other solutions too, personally I follow leagues more than individual teams (EPL, La Liga, Serie A, Brazilian Serie A for me) which is great if you're a fanatic and can never get enough games. I also attach myself to the individual players whose style I really like. For me its just incredibly easy to be a fan of the game.

Yea you definitely don't have to force yourself to become a fan of a team. I didn't really have a favorite squad until I fully started understanding soccer, and Barca became my favorite team because of their midfielders (Deco,Iniesta,Xavi). However I still watch most Premier League matches as well. good soccer/football is entertaining to watch no matter what the teams are. Even though I hate Real Madrid, I still watch their matches and even root for them to win so Barca always has the best competition

Most of the Latino greats have played for Barca at one point including two of my all time favorite players

As a half argentine i also root for River Plate (most loyal fans) eventhough they in second div now

 and I hate to root for two EPL teams, but ever since I was young I've been drawn to that Man U red 

I can't pick teams no matter how hard I try, I hate to root for the likes of the bigger teams. I feel like I'd be supporting the Lakers or Yankees (which I can't stand), I know I know, I said I have a slight bias towards Man U. 
I do however have teams I don't like...

Chelsea. I'd hate to see Hulk go there

Liverpool, Arsenal and of course Man City.....

Why?

Ronaldo/Maradona/Ronaldinho - Three of my most favorite players played there. I've been with Barca even when Madrid was kicking out butts but it's nice to be on the other side of the fence 

. Another reason why I like Barca is their style of play and their "team mentality" before anything else.
