F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Good MJ/Wizards comparison... although I don't have any sympathies for Schumi cuz he's won the WDC 7 times and had one of the best runs in F1 we'll ever see.  It's hard enough to have 1 season where everything goes your way... he had 5 consecutive with Ferrari where everything worked-out for him (tires & car).

Anyway...

Yeah, that pit stop was insane. Like the Sky Sports F1 guys mentioned further in that broadcast, he not only managed to replace the steering wheel, but he also switched the car into Neutral, fit on the replacement steering wheel, and then switch to first gear (which includes depressing the hand clutch) -all in 3.3 seconds like a normal pitstop. Incredible. :wow: :pimp:

Definitely Kimi will do good things for Lotus. They're definitely one of the teams to watch out for in the future. Really talented and quick driver lineup. Hopefully they will win races soon, but hopefully it wouldn't be Red Bull-like right away.

Iceman staying at Lotus :smokin

Why did Lewis need to change his steering wheel anyways? :nerd:

good thing Kimi is staying!

the bad thing is, since Hungary, Lotus has been stagnant. their development went few a steps backward. their lucky that Kimi is still clinging on the 3rd spot on the championship.

Still want Kimi to win a race this season, i love that guy. Such a laid back, nonchalant dude. His interviews are always entertaining.

Don't think there isn't an F1 fan out there that doesn't like Kimi.

Unfortunately, barring any unforeseen circumstances where the front-runners all DNF, I don't see the Lotus having enough performance to win a race.  The thing is that for teams like them, MB, Sauber, etc, their best chance of winning races was early in the season when all the teams were still trying to figure out the tires.  We had like, what, 6 different winners in 6 races... hell, Nico and Maldo both won a race.  But as the season progresses, the top teams will start to develop more on their cars, while the mid-teams (with their limited resources) will begin to fall-back... making it even harder to win.  Oh well.

Good point, as much as i like seeing Vettel win races it would be nice to go back to the start of the season having a different winner every race. Makes for much more interesting races. Curious how Lewis will do next season with MB considering he's gonna be driving a chassis that isn't on par with Mclaren. Although i heard MB has put a lot of time and money into next seasons car. We'll see.

*Reporter asks Kimi an extremely long redundant question*
Kimi's response: Yes

Incredible lap by Lewis. Terrible qualifying by Fernando. Seb probably having engine trouble after that shunt in Q2? :nerd:

Lewis has looked so strong thus far... but Seb shouldn't be too upset with where Ferdy is.  JB though...

Looks like the track temps are hurting him quite a bit.

I hate that McLaren will be without this type of quality next season.

Praying for a 10-place grid penalty for Seb's car...  He looked quite a bit unnerved in Q2.

Really strange that Kimi's car was bottoming out a lot in Q3. :nerd:

BREAKING ~ Seb will start from the pitlane! Only had 850ml of fuel in the tank, which was not enough for the 1-liter requirement for the FIA-sample! WOW.

Official FIA statement

Interesting that they accepted the "force majeure" argument, which basically meant that the problem was out of RBR's hands, but still penalized him for not having enough fuel in his tank for the 1-liter sample.

When Lewis had the same issue in Barcelona, McLaren also argued "force majeure", but it was clear at that time that a mechanic accidentally underfueled the car.  Very interesting, no doubt!

This is worse than staring 24th for Seb.  He has to wait till Narain passes the pit before he can exit the pit!
