F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Haven't came in here in a while. I'm still heated about how the last race played out. I was gonna drop that ether but I don't wanna get banned |I

So what do drivers do once the season is over? :nerd:

^ They relax a bit... then start training again... marketing... work with their engineers on the new car... lather, rinse, repeat.

Grosean confirmed for Lotus 2013!

I think closed-cockpits for F1 will be inevitable.  I think the FIA Safety guys want that, but the drivers won't. There has to be some middle-ground compromise though.

^good for him

Didn't Jackie Stewart offer to be his driving coach and he declined?

If so, he should take that back and reconsider that option.

I would take that offer in a heartbeat, no questions asked!

^ Indeed he did... but I'm sure there were a lot more factors behind him declining.  Still given his situation at the time (of crashing too much), it probably couldn't have hurt.

Also... a bit of a shame!

From Kamui to all the fans

To All the fans,

Thank you for the big support.  I am very appreciated that many of you have donated and trying to make donation.

I must mention this that since the donation started, it has become quite big news in Japan.   And because of your big support, it gave huge influences to some of Japanese companies and I started receiving good support from them.

And I was in the position to bring a budget of 8 million Euro at least.  If you could imagine the time I had, it was overwhelming reaction and it shows there still is a great potential from Japanese companies.

Unfortunately, the time was still short and I am not able to secure the seat with competitive F1 team for 2013.  I have to admit that it is very sad and feel sorry for fans and Japanese companies who supported me.  But I am still confident to make it happen in 2014.

I would like to stop the donation for now and while I will save all the money for 2014, I start to look what is the best option for 2013 and also 2014.  My main priority is to secure the competitive F1 seat in 2014.

I have no interests to race any other categories.

I will make an announcement as soon as I make a decision for 2013.

So, please wait and really looking forward your support for coming year, too.

All the best,

KAMUI KOBAYASHI

In addition to what SinnerP said, after some rest, they do charity events and some marketing events for the team/sponsors. Some join triathlete/Ironman events. Hard not to keep these guys inactive in the offseason.

^ to be honest, no.

in my opinion low tops would have been better as it would have got the 'casual shoe' point accross

I see your point, but actually I wouldn't mind the high-cut as I'd wear jeans over them anyway.

I'm not getting them, but just came across them. Not that many "racing shoes"... but Nike did make the Schumi Air Zoom Turf back in the 90's.

The low-cut alternative would be these.

These look cool, IMO, but I'd never wear them.

I'd rock the low-cuts for casual use. the high-cut ones probably won't go out of my sim rig.

The all-black one isn't bad, though.

^ Ah, SimBoots. Those just look ugly. :x

Pulling for JB now, eh? :nerd: I really hope he's competitive this season. From what we've seen in the final races of the year, Felipe looks up to the challenge now. Looks almost like in pre-accident shape. :smokin

^ Haha, I just ended-up buying a pair of "room shoes" from Muji for a fraction of the price!

I like JB... no issues with him prior to joining McLaren. Obviously been supporting Lewis in the past, but was always pleased when JB won a race. As I've always supported all McLaren drivers and as he's the natural #1 (I like Checo too), I went with his helmet. Plus, I've been very impressed since his move to McLaren.  Certainly did a lot better than what I initially expected!

I'm not jumping to Mercedes fo sho!

nice new helmet! no love for Cheko yet huh

i used to rock those Fila X Ferrari from early 00's. those are awsome!

what i heard those high top AS would hurt if you wear it for a while. its not even recomended for long walks

i saw some Ducati's too and they look and feels like they're good for casual.

Haha... nothin' but love for Checo! But I don't think there's enough room for 2 helmets AND Griffey!

Maybe when his new McLaren design comes out I'll try to incorporate it in.

Puma has a lot of "racing" shoes, but they all look uncomfortable... especially with how thin the outsoles look.

^ Yeah, Puma's feel quite a bit awkward when walking around with them casually (due to the thin front of the outsole), but they feel pretty good while driving. The thick, rounded sole at the heel of your foot does help when you depress the gas/brake/clutch pedal.

Happy 44th birthday to Michael Schumacher today, btw. :pimp:
