Random thought:

I suspect that Alpine will leave F1 by ‘27 or ‘28. They’re a rudderless ship with no clear path and incompetent leadership. I just can’t see Renault continuing to pour money into something that makes them look so incompetent.

F1 could take the opportunity to turn that team into a junior/feeder team where there’s either no cost cap applied to the team or a generous one that’s reasonably higher than the cap applied to the rest of the grid with the caveat that the drivers for said team cannot have more than 3 years of experience or their experience cannot exceed a certain amount of Grand Prix started.

[It would not be a situation where Red Bull or Mercedes could insert their junior drivers into the new team’s program.]

This would take winning the F2 championship from nearly pointless, to the massive win that it’s supposed to be and create a pathway for more young drivers to the grid.

It could also be a good platform for young engineers to make a name for themselves in the sport.

Funding wise, I think F1 could expand their revenue sharing to make this even better for the grid as a whole. Title sponsors like Rolex, MSC etc could also contribute to make this possible. And maybe if it went well they could even lure an additional engine manufacturer like Hyundai, Toyota, or even Porsche.
