Yep. The coaches will help but some people will still get left out.

How many players are there from China in the NBA? There's two significant ones: Yao and Yi.

How many players are there from the US in the NBA? A lot.

Who has the bigger population, China or the US?

You don't think that makes a difference? There's a reason why Yao is consistently has a huge vote total, and it isn't because he's one of the two best players in the league. It's because he's from China.

Demographics is huge.
Using your logic, then why is Yao not leading the league in votes? To say "because he's from China" and that's the reason why hegets the majority of votes is ignorant at best. You people act like people in China only vote for Yao and have no understanding as to who the best players inthe NBA are.

smh @ fans. What has VC done to deserve being in the All-Star game. People really wanna see an older Vince trying to do that same off the backboard nonsense? And T-mac over Nash? Gilbert, who's injured? It should only be the coaches voting.

I say this every year....I never understood why people complain about players who arent going to make the game anyway. When a Dampier or a Scola get enoughvotes to start then thats cause for complaint...but thats not going to happen so why cry about it?

Ex-act-ly.

And people complain about the China vote, but how do you explain Dampier getting as many votes as he did?

Do tell.

It just shows, as a whole, it's nothing more than a popularity contest/a lot of idiots are voting from who knows where.

The time he avg'd 16 points with Toronto was when he was traded in December. When he went to the Nets in December, he avg'd great numbers, stats, & feats getting him to the All Star game in Feb. I didn't know the all star game had the starters in December.

You're right, putting up two months of good numbers totally forgives a subpar year, not to mention completely quitting on your team. I guess when your name is Vince Carter you can get away with it.

Do you like not making sense? He got traded in December, you call that the whole year?

In my opinion, he didn't deserve the 2003 selection (like Jordan really deserved it..he was just averaging 20 and his team was under .500 ad he missedthe playoffs that season), maybe the 2004 selection if you wanna be a dickhead about it, but the rest...He got selected, and rightfully so, quit crying, leavethe sour grapes and try some sweet berries.

I personally don't respect that man as much anymore, but he still has a career 24, 5, 4 average.

(Hedo is def. outplaying 'Shard this year, I just find it funny that he's got him in fan voting, too. Must be all those Turkish votes...)

That's definitely not funny. Matter of fact, more of this should happen. Deserving and less-popular players should be ahead players that whose name just slips off the tongue but aren't having all-star type seasons.

Agreed. Turkoglu is having a fantastic season. Yes, I'm biased, but he scores 20+ points almost every game he plays. He gets decent rebounds/assiststoo.

Im not a Clippers fan, actually im far from it...but i must say, Chris Kaman being last place in voting gets a big

from me. The man has been ballin' this year, he at least deserves 2ndto last.

But in all seriousness, dude should of gotten a lot morevotes.

I hope y'all are ready for Yi for the next 10+ years.
once he's in the ballot, he'll be a lock until he retires. he's good. but not good enough to start (unless he becomes a superstar).

and tmac still in the race even if he's injured.

I'm a BIG tmac fan but i know he doesnt belong there

The All Star game is supposed to be ENTERTAINING. So with that said, I don't want to see Parker in there. I'm mad as hell Softie McGrady is up there, and my dude A.I. is 4th. NAsh should be there of course, but in my estimation as a reserve. Once again, it should be an ENTERTAINING game, and last year was horrible. I didn't even see the second half.

My biggest issue is with these players: Wade, McGrady, and Arenas.

Huh?

I mean, T-Mac had 3 of the most entertaining dunks EVER in an ASG. To this day, I still see various avys of his different off-the-glass dunks.
Hibachi... dunking off trampolines = entertaining moment.
And Wade is certainly capable of wowing the crowd.

So I'm not getting where you're coming from with those statements.
You might as well have said "I hate Wade, Arenas, and McGrady"

Same with Shaq. Every year that Shaq goes, we have something to laugh/talk about.
Whether he's dribbling between his legs bringing the ball up

It's obvious that Dwight will make the team. So ya'll should relax with the Shaq hate.

Finally, like most others have said, I don't see why everyone gets so upset over these early votes. The fans only vote TEN players. And I'd say thatthey usually - USUALLY is the key word- get at least 8 out of 10 correct. The coach's vote the rest of the deserving players.

No matter what system you use, there will ALWAYS be snubs.

You guys are mad because Yao and Yi are Chinese players, smh

If there is a good Filipino player in the L, you all gonna vote him like crazy

--I agree, but I think the fans voting only determines the All-Star starting line-ups right?
--And the coaches from each conference put in votes for the reserves?

People should post their ballot.

Forgive me, but I'm a homer. Looking at the ballot though, besides 3-4, the guards in the East (Billups, R. Allen, Redd, and Arenas who is injured) seemterrible.

I'll just repeat my all-star selection concept.

A weighted scale that incorporates the three main entities of the NBA game.

All the NBA all-stars are voted into the game.

1/3 of the weight is from the fan vote which continues as it is now. If it's a popularity contest, then so be it.

1/3 of the weight is from the player vote. Players have the best view of the action. They guard and score against their peers. They ought to play a role indeciding who represents their conference in the All-Star game.

1/3 of the weight is from coaches. They know which players are killing them each night.

Once the all-star roster is determined, players and coaches vote amongst themselves who should start for their conference team./END

When All-Star weekend comes around the only two things I really care about are the Rookie game and the Dunk Contest. By Sunday's game, I'mdisinterested.

I thought Yi was not in the ballot at all, why is he being selected, can somebody explain?
