Someone explain to this to me?? They always talk about how Lebron is such a great team player and an amazing passer bla bla bla...but yet when it comes toIverson he's just a scorer and nothing more??

Lets look at the stats for the last 3 years

07-08..........LJ 29.3 & 7.7............AI 26.3 & 7.3
06-07..........LJ 27.3 & 6.0............AI 26.3 & 7.2
05-06..........LJ 31.4 & 6.6............AI 33.0 & 7.4
04-05..........LJ 27.2 & 7.2............AI 30.7 & 7.9

I mean they both shoot and score alot...they both dominant the ball so someone explain why Iverson is considered as good of a passer as Lebron is??

charles and kenny explained this perfectly...

the types of assists ai gets....are of the im trapped/im in the air and passin it/ i drove all the way to the rim and slung it in there to you variety

they are very "forced" he drops these dimes in situations where he HAS to pass not because hes setting his teammates up...lebron passes it like anactual point guard

Yeah....To a certain extent....

well i think a good portion of lbj's passes goto his teammates and his teammates get fouled. you don't see that pass show up on the stat sheet becausehis teammates get two trips to the line instead of the bucket and the assist. he sets up other players very well. kid's got a knack for it.

That could refer to when he probably played in Philly... But, if you are watching Denver games you can see him setting up his teammates way more than everbefore.. Why do you think he isn't shooting 20 shots a game.. He's passing and distributing. Lebron passes it like an actual point guard??? andIverson only passes it when trapped .. right

.. And the result of mostof Iverson's turnovers this year are jump passes.. Not intending to shoot but, looking for players.. You shouldn't reference Chuck and Kenny'sopinion b/c that's their view.. The dude has been dropping 7 assists for the past 5 years and the last two years he's been playing unselfish ratherthan shooting 25 shots a game..

But, even though I say all that I would still say Lebron is a better *passer* than Iverson.. Just don't take away from Iverson's passing ability andsaying he can't.

I don't really think thats true but even if it was...why doesn't Kobe or Tmac or Vince or Redd or many of the other great scorers get as manyassists as AI...they get the same type of defenses ran against them that AI does and they dominant the ball just like AI

I think Lebron is a better passer but AI doesn't get enuff respect for his passing..

Assist are just numbers - LeChoke gets most of his assist from passing it 5 feet to a wide open someone who hits a jumper cause he's doubled.

hes way bigger. if shaq passed like how luke walton does then shaq would probably be the greatest passing big man

You can always tell who watches basketball and who looks at stats by the comments they make. Lebron is one of the sickest passers I've ever seen. His courtvision and awareness are damn near second to none. On the contrary, Iverson is a naturally gifted passer who played quarterback...his hands can launch a ballthrough the tightest seams. You see that on the court. To say AI gets his assist because he gets trapped is simply erroneous. AI does attack passing angles onthe offensive end. He is also very creative so he'll try to make it easier for his teammates by drawing a double team through penetration and then dish therock. He's not doing it because he's trapped, he's doing it to make it easier for teammates. Chuck and Kenny are simply represent the media thattries to belittle everything AI does. So be it. Lebron will get love for simply touching the basketball court because he is the media's Saviour. Thatdoesn't take away from his skill though. It's his court vision that separates him from the pack... He puts the ball where it needs to be with suchease. For a big guard/forward, that is simply amazing.

This sounds ridiculous, you can say this for PLENTY of players in the league...

You can't look at numbers to tell who is a better player at that particular skill...

Lebron has an EXCELLENT court vision...which is something AI has never been known for. Marbury used to be drop nice assist numbers too but you've neverheard him referred to as a great passer have you?

Court Vision is just a skill that no stat can translate.

AI has become less selfish as the years went on..but still Lebron is more unselfish..Yes Iverson has vision and passing skills, its just if he chooses to passor not...LeBron is so much bigger then Iverson, which opens up his vision more...and LeBron will give it up anytime..
I don't think anyone has ever doubted how good of a passer Iverson is, its just if he wants to or not, just like Kobe..He has vision and skill, justusually would rather keep it himself...

I also always think LeBron's assists should be up higher, if it wasn't for his teammates..

if i had lebrons body inch for inch, pound for pound, id be the best ever ... ai gets way more respect from me because (and i pray someone tries to argueagainst this) he is a tiny dude and it is much harder for him to do what he does than for lebron to do what he does ... put it this way, imagine if ai waslebrons size ... .... ... now imagine if lebron was ai's size ... ... ... ai's skill > most in the league today

You could say the same for Iverson up until last year...

Well take it from someone who has watched almost all of AI's games since GU...he has good court vision too but up until last year he had a bunch ofbums to pass too...

This has to be a joke. I guess you lovehis look then look away pass.

Iverson sometimes plays PG. He's a small man who is given more distance so that he has a better view for a good pass.
LeBron's a big man, and his current assist numbers haven't been seen by any person 6'7+ in modern NBA history other than Magic Johnson. Not evenLarry Bird. Of course it's more impressive when a relatively big man averages those assist numbers.
This year, LeBron averages more assists in less minutes than Iverson and has a better assist to turnover ratio.

LeBron is taller. He jumps higher. He's much stronger. When Lebron is trapped in the air and looking to pass he can see way more of the floor than Iverson.Lebron's airborne, in trouble, and looking at the court from at least 9.5 feet in the air. Iverson is what 7 feet, maybe 7.5 in the air.

It helps when you can see more of the court and over the defenders' heads.

edit: Statwise, Iverson averages about one half turnover more than Lebron each game over their careers.

A.I. can past that ball. Simple as that. Lebron turns the ball over a lot as well. So does nash, kobe, etc. the fact is, anytime you dominate the ball as muchas these players do, then you are bound for turnovers.

Yeah, "past" as in his team used to have possesion of the ball in the past, before he turned it over.

By this stupid logic, Muggsy Bogues is a much better passer than Magic Johnson ever was.
