Remember The "Reason" Why Melo WAS Better Than Bron Was..........

Do people even remember Big Dog? Man, I always thought they fell off hard when he was let go (along with Vin Baker). G. Rob was a perennial AS and a leader forthat team. And for those who say LeBron deserved that ROY, that's BS cuz 'Melo did deserve that ROY cuz he took his team to the playoffs when LeBroncouldn't in his first season and both teams were in bad shape before each player got them (Cleveland a little more). Melo will turn out to be a greatplayer for years to come, mark it.

Glenn Robinson was a beast in College but never lived up to his hype in the League I can see why Melo gets compared to him they are similar in there playingstyles both mid range shooting big men better off the dribble than in the post and can throw down with power when its needed.

Melo has always been a team player hes never been lent on to lead his team except at Cuse when he carried that team to the chip and even then he had a goodsupporting cast people forget he had GMac,a young Warrick,Dwaney and alot of decent conributeing bench players he didnt do it all alone. In Denver he does histhing aswell as AI doin his but Denvers stacked have alot of options maybe to stacked.

Lebron without trying or wanting to is turning into another AI or post Shaq Kobe by this I mean hes putting up big numbers carrying a team but sometimes thatjust aint enough u need a supporting cast now the Cavs have Sasha and AV back maybe theyll win more games but how long b4 Bron Bron gets sick of putting up bignumbers on a bad squad thats not goin nowhere.Iverson got sick of it he tried to carry them 6ers maybe to much and selfishly Lebron is a great player and needsto be the main goto guy but he needs a wingman Hughes aint gettin it done I cant see him being content with HOF numbers on a team that barely makes theplayoffs Cleveland gotta make some moves or Fire Ferry.

Peace
Scottie

I was shocked they didn't share ROY...they did it before i don't see why they couldn't do it again...And Melo is a good player...only time willtell if he'll be a Great player

Here's a new one for ya..

"Well, At least Melo didnt get swept by the spurs last year"

As much as I liked Big Dog in his prime....

Anyone who is claiming Melo is just a new version of him clearly doesn't know what they are talking about.

Still LeBron over Melo anyday...but that is not saying Melo isn't a great player...LeBron is just on a different level...

How exactly is Melo an underachiever? The guy was 22 years old last year leading the league in scoring while shooting 50% most of the way. He led his team to the playoffs as a rookie. He has stepped up the challenge of playing with an NBA legend in Allen Iverson and matching his production and output. He's the best inside outside player in the NBA. Just because a bunch of 13 year old kids didn't vote him an all-star doesn't make him an underachiever. He was the ROY. Point Blank. He got robbed. Even LeBron was surprised that he got alone, instead of Co-MVP honors. That is when I stopped taking the writer's votes seriously for MVP or any other league award. He got robbed out of the a couple of All-Stat nods. He had 22 points in last year's all-star game only behind Kobe and Amare who had way more minutes than he did. Not to mention, he was the best player for his country in the World Championships.

Glen Robinson 2.0? More like Allen Iverson 2.0. A phenomenal player who continues to put the media to shame, but they will never give him credit because they are afraid to admit they were wrong. This why I don't watch NBA basketball or read the stupid columns these writers pen.

Two best posts in this thread. Absolutely true.

First off, why are people sleeping on Big Dog? He was a GREAT player. Melo is similar, and I feel bad for him because he can't get the respect that hedeserves.

Big Dog's mid range jumper was like going to the ATM. He was a really good player, but as stated, he underacheived.

Melo did get jerked for that ROTY trophy in 2004. He had no shot, because of LeBron's hype.

Did anyone really expect Melo to develop into a super star? He is your average decent ball player but I never expected him to get a lot better than what he isnow. I don't think anyone expected him to be a Top 5 player in the league.

????

Dude's acting Melo is really THAT far behind Lebron...why is top 5 out of the question for Carmelo? He's arguably top 10 right now.

Melo plays in Denver, so half the country does not get to see his games; If they saw him as often as the saw Lebron, the argument might be different.

Exactly, being from Denver I've seen probably every game Melo has played in and Melo is a beast. He's not on Lebron's level but he's aterrific player. The improvement in his game since he's been in the league is very impressive. If Melo hits the boards like he can he could be a 25 and10 player.

Melo is a baller. Definitley a top 15 player in the league so the hate is really unnecessary....

i really don't understand the hate at all on melo

hes 4th in scoring, and has 6.5 boards and 4 assists to go with that. He's not a point guard, or a point forward like lebron is so his assists aren'tgoing to be high. He's top 10 in rebounding for small forwards. Imo if he increases his rebounding numbers and increases his range to beyond the 3 pointline he will be one of the NBAs elite players.

question: when was the last time the media bashed on iverson or melo?

^well doesn't that deserve a critique? he was involved in a fight. i would think the media has every right to talk about that.

i'd just like to hear an instance where the media wrongly "bashed" on carmelo.

Melo has to be one of the qucikest big men in the League. Nice Jab.

But I think there a bit of a different player so it is to hard to make these comparisons.

I know there close to the same size, but on there team Melo doesn't bring the ball up, where as Lebron does a lot of the time.

It's not even about bashing. It's about picking apart every little thing they don't do or blowing an off-court incident out of proportion. StopSnitching DVDs, Hanging out with a certain crowds, etc. I could go on forever. I still remember the Philadelphia news and media people following Chuck aroundevery single place he went. They had people following him to catch him slipping. There was even an incident in Atlantic City that made its way to themedia's door. The media would never do that to Lebron, just like they covered up a lot of MJ did. When you're the media's darling, you get awaywith a lot of !@@#.

As for the on-court stuff, its just simple nitpicking. Instead of giving someone their props, there is always some way to bash both of these players. I guesssomething about them just ticks the media and sports writers off. You want to compare Melo and Lebron? Melo is flat out a way better shooter than Bron. He's hasn't found his niche as game in, game out scoring threat...but he flirted with that niche last season. He has had to adjust with not having thatdistributing PG around though. We're only 30 games into the season though. Melo is just a flat out better scorer than Bron. Bron is an overall betterplayer, but its by a small margin.

Why does the media pick on Melo for not rebounding and not look at the situation logically. Charles Barkley was all over him last year for not being a betterrebounder. He averages 6 boards a game and played with the Marcus Camby who was the league's leading rebounder, Nene, and Reggie Evans. 6 boards a game ispretty impressive considering who he is playing with. They get on him for not having more assist, but dude plays the 3 and his job is usually that of afinisher. Everything Melo does is just not good enough. It's like the AI saga. The man has done everything, but win a ring...but its his fault for notwinning that ring and not the fact that he played on very bad teams. I'm so happy the Sixers are trash right now and Billy King was fired, but its crazyhow the media will never admit that the true cancer was the GM and the Sixers were just a pathetic squad. Iggy was suppose to blossom after "TheCancer" left, but now he's not built for superstardom?

TheNBA media and sports writers are full of !@@#. I don't even read the dumb columns anymore. I barely even watch NBA basketball.. I catch it here and therethough...

NT has gone back in time 2 years. Melo got all the hate a player could possibly get here. I just don't understand why this didn't come while he was inhis slump and not after his fourth straight double double, averaging 32.5 points and 12.5 rebounds over the last 4 games. But you can tell Carmelo is doingwell due to the fact that the comparisons to LeBron never seem to go away. 2 years ago people were saying LeBron>Wade>Bosh>Melo. Last year the haterswere very quiet. Melo now has to silence them again. It's nothing new, he'll do it again.

And he's getting his due respect from fans finally, as he leads all fowards in the west in All-Star voting. I'll just sit back and watch the seasonunfold.

when has the media done that to melo though? i can't think of an instance where the media has done this to carmelo. (just a quesiton, notinstigating anything)

Melo is a beast, point blank. You cant deny what he can do on the court. And he did get robbed for "ROY"
