What Larry Johnson did in that season was more impressive than what Adrian Peterson has done this season IMO.

PS. LJs 2006 yr was more sicker.
Explain
Clinton Portis in 02' > the hype surrounding AD....
Co-sgin. i remember one game in his 2nd or 3rd season when he put up 260 and 5 TDs aganst KC. him behind Denvers line was just amazing
Explain
in 2006 LJ had 11 100+ yard games with NO other help (except Gonzalez). Priest was out, and it was just him out there pooundin the rock.
Those 2 200+ yard games in 2005 came vs Cinci & Houston.
2006 was a sickly consistant dominant yr from a game by game stand point
Gunna do you really think that if AD stays healthy he isnt a sure fire hall of famer? and i understand its a big if.
he's a rookie...let him get a couple more years under his belt before the HOF campaign trail starts for AD...shoot, if this were the case, then OlandisGary would have been a shoo-in for Canton after his rookie season in Denver...
Looking back on portis's 02 i think the system had alot to do with it. So i think it goes like this LJ's 05>>>AD's07> Portis's 02
You can point to the system as much as you want, but look at the results. Portis only started 12 games, and had 1500+ yards wth 15 TD's on the ground. That's unheard of, and just a sick overall season for a 1st year RB (who wasn't even a 1st round pick). Also, it's not like AD is playing behind acrappy O-Line (obviously there are issues with the QB), but it took a while for NFL defenses to key in on how to stop the Vikings rushing attack.

it took him 1,000 carrys to get 1700 yards. his 2005 year is much better.
I give AP props because he is doing it with no type of weapons around him. he has a good OL and thats it. facing 8 man in the box since the seasons started.
Edit: Gunna do you really think that if AD stays healthy he isnt a sure fire hall of famer? and i understand its a big if.
I mean Wasnt Terrell Davis a "sure fire HOFer" til his career got cut short.
Barry Foster ran for 1600+ yards in 1992, most football fans couldnt even tell me what number he wore .
there has been alot of RBs to come in the league and quickly fizzle out. their avg career length = 4 yrs. thats alotta odds to beat.
there's a long list of RBs who have cracked a 1000 yards for one or two yrs then limped away from the game like Kaizer Sosa
he's a rookie...let him get a couple more years under his belt before the HOF campaign trail starts for AD...shoot, if this were the case, then Olandis Gary would have been a shoo-in for Canton after his rookie season in Denver...
i get your point Double J but gary ant never have half the talent AP has.
Looking back on portis's 02 i think the system had alot to do with it.
couldnt agree more. Portis has got his yards with the Deadskins but its them 300+ carrys to get 1300 yards and more

LOL...yeah, I was a little extreme with the example but the point I was trying to make is that sometimes we just need to sit back and let these guys createtheir own path rather than assuming they are enroute to Canton before they have played 1 year in the NFL. I mean, I know I wasn't the only one who heardthe comparisons of Reggie Bush to Gale Sayers before he even stepped foot on a NFL field. These comparisons and labels are unfair and if the certain playerdoesn't live up to these expectations, then what? I think we should enjoy it for what it is, and ease up on the speculation....AD is a very good RB, butthere are other established guys who have been putting up #'s as well that should get some due.
His pops gave him the nickname all day so he is called AD.Originally Posted by dland24
