These joints have thick leather, but really hard/rough. I gonna have to get something to soften it. I love them though...

Need some Timberland maintenance tips: Have a black suede pair:
1. How do I keeo the tongues up? I like my jean legs inside the boot
2. I have a nice sized scuff on the front right toebox. Suede eraser should do the trick? or do I just throw them away?
And what y'all use to keep them looking....not ashy? Thanks!
