I used to like the Needle Drop dude, but lately he's been trashing a lot of good albums.  My dude blasted Jessie Ware's joint and now this.  Unsubscribing ASAP.

Naw, we can all have our opinions.  Sometimes though I think he listens to **** a little bit too critically and doesn't really experience the vibe of albums.  I mean this dude just said So Many Details is garbage.  I've yet to find someone that I've played that track for that doesn't like it.  *shrugs*

Causers of this is a must.

Theres also another guy from sc named ernest greene but he calls himself washed out. Feel it all around is a great song by him.

Neon indians first album is awesome. Deadbeat summer is a must

And of course my girls by animal collective ( check the sig)

Chillwave in general is just great to listen to.

i don't know about that just yet..

causers of this was straight up monumental.. he re-defined the chillwave genre.

anything in return is just a great pop album.
I can't lie.  I'm feeling "Anything in Return" way more.

His music is so abstract and stream of conscious, there isn't always "song structure" or halfway coherent lyrics, but I just enjoy it for the vibes I get. Salutes to NT for recommending Underneath The Pine, Still Sound in particular, back in late 2010.

But, what specifically do you all like about Chaz's music?
His production is off the charts.  Just the overall melodies,  and vibe of the music as well.  He doesn't have the greatest vocals (though they've gotten better from what I've heard, but it doesn't matter.

I was expecting an ever higher score from Ptichfork.

neon indian's second album used to be my go-to bedtime album..

i absolutely love that album, i personally think it's better than psychic chasms.

washed out is cool too, i felt proud of dude for some reason when i first heard his song on Portlandia.

also, i hate that the BB near me doesn't have this in stock.. i had to pull the trigger on Amazon.

Balam Acab is awesome too. "Dream out" is like an eargasm

the packaging is great.. it comes with a black and white poster of the album cover.

now to rip it and enjoy it in all it's lossless glory.

Rose Quartz

His chords and the layers of sounds he makes are just amazing, He's a special producer
Tripping to his music just brings it to a new level, can't wait to see him in Brooklyn.

damn near 3 years later and the transitions on Causers of This still give me chills..

from freak love to talamak..

from talamak to you hid.

this man is truly a modern-day genius.

Enlarged, bolded, italicized and underlined for emphasis.

Son.....that breakdown at like 2:45 in?  SON.  I've ran that back so many times already and it gets better every damn time.  There are so many different nuances to it, too.

Yeah, I don't necessarily dislike the song, but it's probably the weak point of the album due to the lyrics. They're cringe worthy. Sonically, the song is great, however.

Causers of this is a must.

Man, I loooove "Psychic Chasms." It's one of my favorite albums that has came out within the last few years. With that said, I just can't get into "Era Extrana" at all. I don't know what it is, but it just didn't have that hazy, playful vibe that I loved about "Psychic Chasms." It's been awhile since I've listened to it, so maybe I'll give it another shot soon.

Washed Out is cool in my book. I'm probably in the minority here, but I wasn't really that big on "Life of Leisure," but I did like "Within and Without" more.

Yep neon indians 2nd one is dope too.

Balam Acab is great. Hard to believe how young he is.

Yeah, "Causers..." is truly amazing. The way the album was mixed and how the songs transition into each other was beautiful. I'm a sucker for stuff like that and it made the album very cohesive. Definitely one of my favorite albums of all-time.

i need to be in the masquerade on the 6th to watch that boy Chaz live..

for $18, you can't beat that.

I'm really trying to see if I can get a connect to slide me a ticket. Otherwise, I'll drop the money and slide in round 9PM to see him perform

After listening to this for a few weeks I have to say I don't think he's ever put out an album I've disliked. His music is just the definition of consistency so far when it comes to quality, even with the slight change in his sound. Good album, wasn't disappointed in the least.
