Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (a Spaghetti Western) scheduled for release Christmas 2012

just finished watching this and i can't front , this movie was overhyped.
the violence was ridiculous and overdone. by no means am i one of these people who can't see blood but at one point me and my wife looked at each other and laughed, just seemed stupid.
movie was entertaining but nothing mind blowing how some are making it seem ..... just my humble ......

You root for the Jets, I can't take your opinion seriously.

jk bro

Does his work **** on this too ?

I'm sorry but this movie isn't universally liked. The only reason this is a good movie is because many people, mostly black are huge fans of Malcolm X and Denzel Delivered a great performance. This had very little to do with Spike Lee.

This movie was kill bill type violence there is no post kill bill Tarantino. His most violent movie was kill bill 1 followed by Django.

That being said, I don't think the violence in Django Unchained is anywhere as gratuitous as it was in Kill Bill or Inglourious Basterds.

Calm down on the spike movie slander. DTRT and Malcom X are classics.

Spike had nuthing to do with malcom X being good? C'mon now. There are multiple iconic scenes in that movie. It's incredible.

25th hour, bamboozled, and inside man are also high quality.

I love bamboozled and 25th hour those are my faves but even sPikes best don't come anywhere close to being as brilliant as tarantinos. I wanna see spike take some more risks with his movies like he did on bamboozled. Malcolm X the historic figure made that movie a classic not anything special that spike did.

That's interesting.  So technically movies put themselves together eh ?

If you give malcom X to Spielberg it turns out the same way?

Almost all of spike's movies feel too long. Malcom x is 3 hours and 20 minutes and you are still left wanting more. Showing the transformation of him over the years is not an easy task IMO. He was working with very good source material and Denzel in his prime but still that shouldn't take away Frobe accomplishment.

Bamboozled needed to be 30 minutes shorter. That **** was uncomftorble to watch for me but it was so good. I remember being shocked it's so underrated

All the hate stems from use of the racial slurs. Im willing to bet if you counted the exact amount of times the word was used, there will still be a Lil Wayne song that uses it more. I'm sure many of the people who are crying over it, listen to rap music that uses the very word over and over again, but here they are crying because they went to a movie ABOUT A SLAVE, and it has racism portrayed.

Unreal.

Until people stop looking for racism in everything, we wont stop finding it.

EDIT

the movie used the word 110 times, it was 2hr and 45 minutes.
I dont listen to lil wayne, so i googled some lyrics and picked a random song "we steady mobbin"? it uses the word 14 times, and is just over 5 minutes long. Multiple that by 33 to get 165 minutes (2 hours and 45 minutes) thats like using the racial slur 462 times in the same space of time as Django.

:nerd:

Eh, regardless of whats better Malcolm X or Pulp Fiction, Tarantino or Lee etc...
Lee is still in the wrong IMO about this whole thing.

Malcolm X and Pulp Fiction are movies of 2 different genres. Both excellent.
I will say one thing though, Pulp Fiction has garnered multiple viewings. Movie is just too sick.
Malcolm X is good for 2 viewings tops. Especially with that run time.

i saw the movie last night and for what it was, i really enjoyed it. doesn't anyone realize this movie is a nod to Blaxploitation movies from the '70s? it's pretty evident from the opening title card and the purposely bad special effects.

Some of the posts in here reek of sensitveness and hurt feelings. Dudes are using their personal hurt feelings to either discredit spike lees work or tarrintinos work which is corny

Spike is great but he shouldn't even be in the same discussion with Tarantino, the only reason he is cause they have eternal beef apparently.

Movie was dope
