Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (a Spaghetti Western) scheduled for release Christmas 2012

Malcolm X is better than anything Tarantino will ever do.
I agree, but Spike lacks consistency.
Consistency?  I could be wrong but isn't it harder for Spike to fund a movie than Q?  I mean Spike has done Biopics to short films like Malcolm X to Kobe doing Work.  He got game? Jungle Fever? Do the right thing? Bamboozled? Inside Man! Kings of Comedy!

I'm sorry I understand Q has classics too.  But from 1987 to 2012 Spike has just as many classics and wayyyyy more variety.

Kill Bill
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Basterds
are all VERY different, I don't know what you're talking about. The only thing Tarantino's movies have in common is the violence and the fact that he sticks with the same actors.
Spike Lee and Tarantino are very different. Spike Lee tries to make social commentary with his movies which isn't exactly marketable but he's one of the best at doing so.
If you wanted to say something bad about Tarantino I'd say its his "lack of originality". He is a student of film and he borrows a lot of elements of old cinema and puts his own spin on it eg blaxploitation, samurai flicks, westerns.

you really think quentin's filmography has as much variety as spikes?

reservoir dogs, pulp fiction, jackie brown and true romance were all quite similar to me

+ what blakep said in regards to his recent films

it's not so much a knock on him, just an observation

scorcesee isn't that versatile either (although he has been more so recently) but he's still a great at what he does

Review: Django Unchained - Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio shine as Quentin Tarantino delivers his best film since Pulp Fiction -http://wp.me/p2CCWq-2vr

amazing movie.
inspiration movie.
hilarious movie.

Quentin went over the top with the dog scene though, could've done without. I was kinda like  come on son. especially with jamie's dialogue before hand

I think he was coming from the view that Tarantino's last 4 movies( KB1+2, IB, Django) have essentially been revenge flicks( not counting the grindhouse 1). Now of course theres more to them, but they are kind of in the same lane.

Yea he does a lot of revenge flicks but I was under the impression we were looking at their careers as a whole. And those revenge flicks were themed very differently. The only thing Django and Kill Bill have in common is revenge....and unnecessary blood splatter.

Kill Bill is one of my top 5 movies ever made, can't wait for Kill Bill 3. :nerd:

Why is he "salty" though? There's nothing funny about slavery and that's what he was pointing out. Its not a Spaghetti Western. Its something that should be tackled in a serious manner. Its being erased from our history books. Literally. His beef w/ Tarantino dates back to Jackie Brown and his gratuitous use of the N word which he has an obsession with. Glory tackled slavery right. He's had movies about Jackie Robinson and James Brown killed by studios because they wouldn't give him funding. They have a Jackie biopic coming out now and its not Spike behind it. It took George Lucas two decades to get Red Tails done and he's George Lucas. They had to dumb down the movie as well as its marketing to get across to the movie going public. Tarantino could get away with doing a movie like this because of who he is. His catalog doesn't compare to Spike Lee's. He has a legitimate beef not only with the movie, but Tarantino and Hollywood in general.
spike has too much of an agenda and his is probably more racist than tarantinos...

but i guess its okay for spike to use the C word and whatnot against whites in his movies right?

like or or not people still use the N word..black people probably more than whites, spike is just upset that QT is showing a much more realistic point of view

and also QT can "get away" with this film because hes had more successes than failures and the people backing him know that they will get a quality film..

of course malcolm X is going to get praise its a good story but spike Lee didnt come up with it on his own its a biopic..tarantino wouldve done a better job too

alot of QTs films pay homage to classic styles of film..jackie brown was a modern day blaxploitation film and is one of my favorites and the characters that are using the N word the most are the black ones..

and yall are idiots of course there is nothing funny about slavery but if you watch the film in context that **** was hilarious. and there's no way you'll understand where anyone is coming from without watching it.

For instance, dude hands all the slaves guns and offers him two options in a sarcastic voice. They can carry their injured slave owner 37 miles to the next city and bring him to the hospital or they could think of an alternative  Dialogue was entirely hilarious especially after the slave owner was trying to bargain for his life

Lets be real. QT would have found a way to insert a long sequence of contrived dialogue and managed to add a standoff in it somewhere

The whole theatre was like :x  :smh:

The whole movie was a rollercoaster of emotions, humor is only one of them.

LOL @ the KKK in its earlier days. That entire scene about the masks had me weak.

Christoph Waltz is the perfect actor to play Tarantino's sarcastic dialogue. Dude was roasting.

I was kinda mad they made him German in this film, I guess if it aint broke don't fix it. >D

both director's play on stereotypes & use shock value (qt more so on the latter)
both sensationalize
both are limited
both come off as ego-maniacs

they are hollywood movie director's...what do you expect?

when i saw pulp fiction for the first time (right when it came out & hadn't seen r.dogs yet) it was the most original non-sci fi film i ever saw
and never have i been more appalled than at the climax of dtrthing, spike stirring genuine emotion on a tough critic

but if you guys wanna argue, they is like apples & oranges yo
tried to derail (argue) with song i posted on last page...check it out

Versatility does not denote a great film though.

It's obvious that Spike has a more diverse record than Tarantino...he's made 25+ films while Tarantino has made less than 10. At the same time, a higher percentage of his catalog is composed of work that is simply good, whereas 95% of Tarantino's catalog has been great.

I wanna see Tarantino and Denzel team up :nerd:
If Denzel is smart he will avoid that man and any idea's he may throw in his direction like the plague because QT Mr. It right now and he's on the rise,he's got a solid fan base but who know's how people will feel in a few year's,about him personaly or his movie's.

I can see why Jamie did it and Sam Jackson,I've just come to the conclusion that he doesn't give a damn,as long as the check clear.I can't knock him for it either.

Denzel makes trash like The Book of Eli, but he should avoid Tarantino. Yeah nah

LOL people are just hating Tarantino just to hate at this point. Dudes are acting like working with Tarantino is like signing with bad boy.

I guess Leonardo di Caprio is not a big star anymore, he'll sign up for any trash movie. :smh:

Sam Jackson didn't sign up for this movie because he signs up for everything, him and Tarantino go way back and he didn't half mass his role. He played the hell out of that role.
