OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

Oh, and my prediction was right. Took Kanye til 2015 to release a new track
smile.gif
Nah. It dropped before midnight.

And I think this song is a prime example of what I said when Yeezus dropped. People always try to speak about music in finite terms but that's not how it works. It's going to be different to everyone.

Yeezus isn't trash. This song isn't trash. If you don't like it, you just don't like it. And if you love it, you love it. That's how art works. It's fine if you think the song sucks. It doesn't work for you. I walk through art exhibits all the time and shrug, while other people are breaking down in tears.

Let it be for you, what it is for you.

Nice message, but sonically this song is concentrated garbage juice.(pulp free) My guy was off key for the entire duration of the song.

All of this.

It's funny because you can't be an objective Kanye fan in here and just keep it real. you either have to be on his you know what sack, or you're labeled a "hater."

Nah man, some of us love Ye'. But we keep it real. This "song" is horrible IMHO. The message is great. The lyrics are dope. I love that having a daughter is making him feel so passionate and caring as a person. It's really inspiring.

I'm honestly very pleased and happy for him. It's obvious he's in a much better place :smokin so no hate on him at all. He's one of my all time favorite artists, EVER.

But musically.... This song is awful. That melody? Sounds like Nori playing around on fruit loops just making a random piano beat. That singing? :x ... IMHO

And this is coming from someone who LOVED 808s & Heartbreaks. (Idc about the hate that was amazing music).

He can do autotune better. He did it the right way on 808s. Great melodies, great passion, great words, great songs. Authentic pain.

This ****... Is just horribly simple with really bad off-beat singing.

It's okay to be objective guys... I'm a Ye' fan too. Blood on the Leaves was one of favorite songs of 2013, and the Yeezus Tour concert I went to was outstanding. I give props when they're do, I give fair criticism when it's due as well.

It's okay for some of you to do the same. Deep down inside you know this song is not "phenomenal."

You won't be playing it in 3 days, be real.
But... If you genuinely love the song, then all the power to you. Enjoy it. Like Naxo said above me, it's art. Some will like it, some won't. I ain't here to rain on your parade if you do.

But just keep it real man...it's okay to be honest

Nah. He just made a piece of music I appreciate. Well written.

Substance. Maybe because I have kids.

Me enjoying music recorded by Kanye West shouldn't really be a big deal if any of you have been paying ANY attention to what I've been saying.

But I think a lot of you just see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear.

And if it doesn't = Kanye West is the greatest human being on the planet, you go blind and deaf

But enough about me.....

I totally agree with everyone having their own opinions of this song or hell any of kanyes or anyone else's music. But how is the song "trash" ? Song is a heartfelt ode to his daughter and mother with him being very emotional. Just doesn't make sense to me with some of you talking how you love mbtdf and 808s and then hate this..

How yall say yeezus is trash but like this?

Blood on the Leaves and Bound 2 are way better than this song by a mile.

This dude ballerific probably doesn't even know who Paul McCartney is bless your heart champ.

 I don't know who Paul McCartney is, you right.

Kanye can't sing. Lyrics are cool but I'm not moved by it. I would appreciate this song more if it was by someone that had the talent to perform it. It's that simple but because it's Kanye, it's deep and him showing how creative he can be. I've heard much better dedication songs to their mother's or children. Hey Mama is a much better song than this

What's the point of comparing the three songs?

Those are regular songs to bump anytime, this is something you listen to when you roam through the entire album

I mean, it's Kanye West trying to sing a ballad. A person that can't sing should not release a ballad. The fact that he's channeling his mom or something doesn't really change anything for me. This song will probably sell 200K-400K though so good for him.

This is exactly how it is with some of these crazy *** Kanye fans. There are people that love his music and appreciate what he's done then theres this next level of crazy fans. You gotta be all in or nothing. If you don't like ONE album it's "You don't understand it" "You don't know art" "You hate Kanye". Dudes are flat out weird.

This new song is nice though.

This. A lot of people are overhyping the song because it's a new track from kanye

I'm a huge Yeezy fan, and i just dont think this song is a SINGLE type record

Would be a dope hidden track or something on his album, but i could really only listen once

But it's Ye, and he delivers his content how and when he wants

Pretty cool read about the song

Kanye West is starting off 2015 on a sweet and solemn note.

The 37-year-old hip-hop star pays tribute to his and wife Kim Kardashian's 1-year-old daughter North West and his late mother, Donda West, with a ballad titled "Only One," a collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney.

The single was released on iTunes on Wednesday night, New Year's Eve, and its lyrics were penned with the perspective of Kanye's mom, who died at age 58 in 2007 after undergoing plastic surgery.

Sample lyrics include "Hello my only one / Just like the morning sun / You'll keep on rising till the sky knows your name / And you're still my chosen one / Remember who you are / No, You're not perfect but you're not your mistakes" and "Tell Nori about me / Tell Nori about me / I just want you to do me a favor / Tell Nori about me."

"People always ask me what my favorite Kanye song is and it's 'Only One,'" Kim, 34, said on her Twitter page, adding, "I cry every time I hear this song."

Inez and Vinoodh
In August, Kim had shared a sweet pic of her husband and their daughter in a recording studio. Kanye's new single is set to be featured in a future solo album by Kanye, whose most recent major record release was the 2013 album Yeezus.

According to a statement released by record company Def Jam, he and McCartney began working together in a small bungalow in Los Angeles, with the former Beatles musician improvising on the keyboards and the hip-hop star "vocally sketching and shaping ideas in a stream-of-consciousness riff."

"When they played back the recording afterward, something remarkable happened," the statement said. "Kanye sat there with his family, holding his daughter North on his lap, and listened to his vocals, singing, 'Hello, my only one...' And in that moment, not only could he not recall having sung those words, but he realized that perhaps the words had never really come from him."

Kanye "understood in that moment that his late mother, Dr. Donda West, who was also his mentor, confidante, and best friend, had spoken through him that day," the statement added, quoting him as saying, "My mom was singing to me, and through me to my daughter."

The statement also added that Kanye's name, which Donda had chosen, means "only one."

"And then it dawned on everyone there: Something powerful and undeniable had occurred through the power of music and of letting go. A message had been passed down through generations," the statement continued. "And so it is that there was only one song that could be released first from this groundbreaking collaboration: 'Only One,' an anthem of positive reflection, hopefulness and joyous celebration to usher in a New Year."
