OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

Not even talking about sales. From a quality standpoint Kendrick has set the bar again and if Kanye is rapping about some BS like on Yeezus nobody is gonna care except for his hardcore stans.

Gotta disagree simply because we expect different things from both of them . It's not really subject matter that we look forward to from kanye any more

Kanye never has made the same music on albums so dont worry fam he will never bless us with the masterpiece that is yeezus again

I look for subject matter. Production can only get you so far. He's not going to recover from another Yeezus.

So you liking the music based off production and not subject matter?
Subject matter is totally subjective.

Kanye is one of those rare artists that we see evolve right before our eyes. Every album, every song, is a reflection of his life and where he currently is at the moment. He is the most HONEST, VULNERABLE artist in pop music today. That has never changed. He as a person changed, but his authenticity has not.

90% of the population will always refer to College Dropout as being the best, subject matter wise. Why? Because 90% of the population can relate to working at The Gap, or retail in general (Spaceship,) and religion (Jesus Walks) and materialism (All Falls Down.) But from Kanye's perspective, those were the major things going on in his life at the time, and he was in that population of the 90%.

Fast forward to Yeezus, people aren't going to be able to relate to it. Kanye is in a different world now. But one thing that remained constant, from College Dropout, to Yeezus, is the authenticity.

As a fan, I have to accept that. I can't go into each album hoping for another College Dropout. It's just not going to happen. And if it did, it would be Kanye forcing it and fake. Kind of like Cam and the Dipset reunion, I LOVED Cam and Dipset but I DON'T love the current reunion movement. So his next body of work, only thing I'm hoping for is for Kanye to continue to be authentic and vulnerable, it may not be a crowd pleaser, but I think we have to respect it for its honesty.

there is subject of matter in kanye songs.. it just not the same as kendricks..

2 very different artist

I'm not excusing wack lyrics with being honest and vulnerable lol. Me personally, I don't wanna hear another College Dropout. College Dropout, Late Registration and Dark Fantasy all sounded different all showed where he was at his in life and were great albums. I just wanna hear dude put more effort into what he's saying. I can't do another Yeezus. I like the All Day and Wolves but then again I was fooled by New Slaves and the Bound 2 snippet.

Nobody said they should rap about the same thing but step it up.

If I remember correctly, part of the criticism of Yeezus was that it DID NOT sound like the album of a happy man who was just married and had a child.

Maybe with the exception of "Bound 2".

That was a while ago so I could be mistaken.

Either way, came in here to post this....

He's said he wanted to put it out last summer but then scrapped it. Theophilus said he's heard like two-three different versions of the album already and Seth Rogen said Kanye played hours of beats for him and rapped over them. Plus the news he just linked up again with Lorde, Taylor Swift, all those British rappers and producers etc. implies he's recording more.

The albums done. It's been done. Whether or not it's "complete" and representative of something he's ready to put out is another matter. The labels given him a date. Whenever that is, 1-2 weeks before that he has to wrap up recording. My guess is we get an album by June. He's starting to promote it already so it can't be far off. Plus he loves to put stuff out in the summer.

It ain't got much to do with relating to it. I don't relate to Kendrick on GKMC, but I **** with the content heavily. Ye just wasn't talking about **** on Yeezus. I mean lesbihonest.

We aren't getting this album anytime soon are we?

I just want CDQ wolves while we wait |I

With the promotion Ye has been doing and performing Wolves and All Day I would think the Album would drop within the next month to 6 weeks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but after he premiered new slaves didn't Yeezus drop within a month or rather soon?

tay1 tay1 the Yeezus debates are old and we on to the next already, but Yeezus was ten tracks long.

On how many of those was he not talking about ****?

So what, it's related to subject matter.

He wasn't talking about **** for the majority of the album. I'd say 7 out of the 10 songs for me.

Then you weren't listening.

Off the top:

New slaves, black skinhead, hold my liquor, blood on the leaves all had deeper pertinent subject matter and themes. And that's just the four songs I remember lyrics of off the top. Basically half the album at least.

What's this new Kanye with Wale? I'm at work and only have Internet on my phone. Is it official?

Yeah this Is exactly what I meant . Didn't mean Ye doesn't have any subject matter . Just saying for the most part it's completely different than Kendrick's . They bring completely different things to the music . Dont really think their albums will be comparable ...

This **** sucks

Wale got a Kanye feature and this is what came of it? Like...how do you get a Kanye feature and the song doesn't even make the album?
