OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

The first half of this is amazing.
The second half doesn't sound like much besides a lot of modern producing clichés... cliché deep voice filters, synth bass and 808 snares... and then of course the I Don't Like remix that Keef doesn't even like. Ehhh |I I'm also really starting to wonder if Kanye takes adderall before writing these verses

The Dream needs to stick to songwriting and stay FAR AWAY from the mic. That hook was horrid.

Kanye talking that random nonsense on the whole album.

Kanye needs another reality check, Taylor Swift.

So far I have listened to this album twice and I dont really have much issues with it. I didnt skip any of the songs that I've heard before because I usually dont do that anyways and for this album it would be pointless cause you'd be skipping half of it. I didnt like how all 3 of them were one after the other, it felt like the track listing was designed in a way to reflect how most of you guys feel and that these songs arent worth anything cause theyre "old" so lets just get them out of the way, which is far from the case cause those songs are the top tier songs on the album.

The highlight of this album is the production IMO it really is top notch. I cant think of a beat that I flat out didnt like. It really could have been longer because judging from what we got they could have done more and still put out quality stuff.

When I listen to compliation or group albums I always find myself ranking the artists in terms of who did the best job. In terms of individual performance I have to give the crown to Big Sean, There wasnt a verse of his that I didnt like. Pusha T and KanYe are next. They could have used this album to promot some lesser knowns though, I did like Cyhis verse on both songs he was on and I'm not usually a huge fan of the guy.

Stuff that didnt belong; The Dream, Teyana Taylor, and Kid Cudi. Nothing but fail out of those 3. I also dont get why they didnt put the Extended Pusha T version of Dont Like on here but thats minor.

All in all its a 7 out of 10, it left a lot desired but delivered with what it did present.

3rd full listen through and then run of only the songs that I like my #1 issue with this is that its way too short. I dont mess with 3 tracks so that leaves with 9, 6 of which I've heard already....

These should've been the Good Friday tracks that he released for free 2 years ago.

Those Good Friday tracks should've been the tracks he sold as an album.

Very underwhelming. I don't care for many of the good music artists on there, big sean, cudi, teyana, cyhi, could've been left off.

I would've rather heard a full 2 Chainz verse on The morning instead of putting cyhi on there

@Antidope, other than "[giving] the crown to Big Sean" :smile:lol  that just sounds funny), I agree with all of that. Even with the 2-3 tracks that have been played a whole lot, this wasn't really a bad album. And this is coming from somebody who was severely underwhelmed by WTT, and pretty indifferent to MBDTF. I'm actually shocked this is a pretty good album based on that too. I'd also give this a 7/10, but I feel like it's a good 7, unlike the 7 I gave to WTT, which to me was a lazy underachieving "I'm Jay-Z, he's Kanye, they're fans, they'll buy this mess" 7. I must've had no expectations for Cruel Summer or something

Not that I loved all of the singles, but the only non-single that I like right out of the gate is To the World. The chance that any of the others grow on me isn't favorable.

We should have expected this. Large compilation albums almost never work. It doesn't really matter who is involved, it just happens that way.

I really think Ye' getting with Kim K took all of his attention away from doing more with this project. Just by all the news and interviews from blogs and/or twitter over the last few months, I know for a fact there was an obnoxious amount of stuff cooked up for this album.

EDIT: Not tryna bash on his personal life, I'm just sayin'

I just can't believe that these are the only tracks they have worked on in 24 months.

This can't be it. These are so far below Kanye's usual standards for music, well at least the old Kanye. The new Kanye apparently doesn't care anymore.

I wasn't expecting the world, i really wasn't...but c'mon guys, this is not a good album. I like Clique, great single, I liked Mercy...it was a solid single. New God Flow is nice, The Morning is nice...

that's all that is memorable. Yeah some of the other tracks might have a nice part here and there, but as a whole nothing else stands out.

Look at the names in good music. LOOK AT THEM. COMMON, KANYE, JOHN LEGEND, KID CUDI, ETC...i mean these guys are TALENTED.

Yeah this may not be 'that bad'...but since when is 'not that bad' acceptable for this amount of talent?

If we're not going to get GREAT from them, at least hit us with GOOD. Pun intended. This is not a G.O.O.D Album. :smh:

PREACH!

I know artist evolve, but Kanye has regressed. I can't support one of my favourite artist when he conforms to current state of affairs in hip hop. To me, all his other albums were visionary pieces of work that surpassed the time they were released in with both sound and message's (well not so much the message). But now a days, it's like you're lucky if kanye decides to bless himself with something more secular than the norm.

yea, not thanks.

reading everyone responses to this tape seems like yeezy went the weezy role on this tape? i havent listened yet but is that true ?

Forgot to mention how awful that solo Kid Cudi song is  That's really the only outright bad song on there

Damn, yall really not feeling this? How critical do you guys get? haha. The Dream tho :x whyyyyyyy

^ I hope you don't mean :x in a bad way. The Dream almost singlehandedly saved the album with that hook. Higher is the only one of the new songs that I'm feeling.

The rest of the songs, as I mentioned earlier, are just so bland and generic.

Common, Mos Def, John Legend, Kid CuDi all worked with Kanye on this album. Common expressed how great it was being involved and Kanye's process of getting a bunch of them to record and picking who sounded the best together. It was even rumored to have been pushed back from Sept 4 to 18 for Mos Def.

Plus they even sat in on most of the MBDTF and WTT recording process, not to get on it, just to bounce ideas. They sat around recording free tracks for Good Friday.

All of that, and this is how Cruel Summer sounds? Not saying it's bad, but it's not "special." It doesn't feel like a project where Common, Mos, and Legend sat around with Kanye, Pusha, Big Sean, etc. in a room to churn out a few tracks. It sounds like an album where Kanye bought a beat, recorded a verse, sent it to the next man, and repeated. With MBDTF and WTT, you could tell he sat around with Jay and his other friends working on ideas and recording together. With this album, it sounds the opposite.

Even with those GF tracks, they had a Kanye feel... you could tell they recorded "Don't Look Down" or "Christian Dior Denim Flow" if not in the same room, at least after they all got on the same wavelength.

Again, not saying anything about the actual quality of the tracks... just the special feel that's missing... especially when we know they sat in studios together in Qatar, Hawaii, etc.

It's almost like Kanye shelved that for the tracks Kim liked...

Was expecting more Common and Cudi, plus some joints from Mos and Q-Tip.

Its aight. None of the songs are bad its just not up to thier standard. The GOOD Friday series was way better. Charlie Wilson killed every song he was on and Cudi was on more tracks.

Rae's verse on The Morning :pimp:
