I thought it was a real slow buildup to the album dropping...but it was great to move it up like he did.

I've been a big Cole fan since The Warm Up, but both albums' first week sales semi-shocked me.

coal is right up there with kendrick and drake as far popularity with these younger rappers go. 300k ESTIMATE is not even a surprise to me.

It's really not, because everything is said in that video is RELEVANT to Kanye..........and apparently to his fans as well.
Not this time around.
It doesn't exactly make it false either. In this particular video, he definitely built a case against Kanye. That's whether you like it or not.
As far as this video goes, even I posted this exact same video in the 2 Chainz getting robbed thread as it pertained to a comment Charlamagne said about the incident with 2 Chainz that I disagreed with, as it was relevant. In this case, as you said earlier this video of him getting jumped is irrelevant as to what he said so why are you posting it??

Fair enough. Surprised me, though. Didn't really feel like Cole was on the same level as Drake as far as popularity goes.
Guess that goes back to me still seeing him as the artist he was when The Warm Up dropped. Watching his ascent kind of skewed my perspective, I suppose.

Harlem you're my dude but you're really underestimating the size of Cole's fan base. It's huge. Combine that with a HUGE single and it was a guaranteed 250. Did I think 300 was possible? Maybe... But you knew it was gonna be better than his debut. When Cole got 218k for Sideline Story he had no hit single. Work out took months to take off.
Power Trip was a game changer for his career. And normally I'm skeptical of haters opinions because he jokes so much but he's right, being under Kanye's album on shelves most definitely helped too. A lotta people bought both. It was a great business decision.
I'm a little pleasantly surprised at 315k but I knew 250-270k was gonna happen when you add the pieces together.

Of course it makes sense, but these days it's so hard to picture people actually buying albums even if they are fans you know?

He aint even hiding from it. He said all along he wanted people who buy Kanyes album to also give his album a shot, that was the most realistic way of making it happen.
The two albums are apples and oranges, but both are good music for the next couple weeks/months.
Now we got Jay comin up.
