OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

He's right about this record sounding like something that coulda come out last decade.  Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.  I'm bout to share this in the Jay thread.

Yeezus is horrible IMO. Kanye completely fell off his rocker on his high fashion, skirt wearing too cool for school, have to be different, I'm an artist ********...

If this exact same album was released by some no name kid that wrote and produced the entire thing himself, he wouldn't even have 100 followers on Facebook and NONE of you would even listen to a song twice. The only reason he gets away with this ******** is because he's "Yeezy" and this cult following of his praises everything he does.

Auto tune, no flow, can't sing, one liner ********.

Love lock down was pushing it as it was, and now he had to take it an extra step to the left. and the only reason that song was as popular as it was is cus it had a catchy beat to it...

I can't wait until these songs get radio edited and stations have to start playin them. U think high school kids wanna kick it to black skinhead? lol

I'm sorry that's just my honest opinion... Not even trying to troll ya'll. It's ridiculous.

College dropout Kanye was something else... Whatever he's "trying" to be now, I don't buy it and I'm not buying it...

Actually it could not be any more the opposite.

A lot of people could not rock with this album because they had a different expectation of it due to what Kanye has done in the past

If this was an artist with a fresh slate, the production levels on this would have been impressive and there would have been potential shown with the topics touched on in the first half of the album

WTT 2 should be interesting

Posted this in the JZMCHG thread figured I would share here as well...

"doesn't hold a candle to yeezus" strong words. Dude tears the album apart shred by shred, crazy.

Kanye's classics - College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808's, MBDTF

Jay - Reasonable Doubt, Black Album, Blueprint, American Gangster.

Jay's batting average is a LOT lower than Kanye's.

Word? So you're saying that 90% of Kanye's catalog are classics?

808's is a classic? Since when? What replay value does that album have? What replay value does MBDTF have? most of everyone I know haven't listened to that album in damn near over a year. Both of those albums were hot, but weren't classics for damn sure.

In order for something to be a classic, it has to stand the test of time. 808's for damn sure hasn't... And I liked that album...

Kanye probably has one maybe two true classic albums. And those are College Dropout and Graduation...

Whens the last time you heard anything from LR (My favorite out of all of his album outside of College dropout), 808's, etc etc on the radio? They still play Through the Wire, Flashing Lights, and SOMETIMES Gold digger on the radio when they stop playing the new top hip hop songs on the radio around here. And I live in a major city area. So it ain't like my radio station is some small station.

...

You know why Jay has a stronger stage presence than Kanye? Because his music holds itself up. Kanye's albums USED to do that. I don't know what the hell happened this time around.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is my long *** mutha-******g post

I mean dog... I'm a bigger Jay Stan than Ye fan and I've got to say you're stating a bunch of opinions as FACTS.  When all they are is opinions.

I live in a larger metropolitan area than you -- NYC -- and until recently I would drive to and from work and to the library every day (I'd spend give or take 3 hours in the car every day) and Ye albums still get played.

They play Gold Digger on top 40 radio regularly (i know. you think LR is his only classic so this is a given.)  I've heard Flashing Lights and Can't Tell Me Nothing recently.

"Amazing" is regularly used on sports telecasts.  Literally all the time.

I heard "All of the Lights" on top 40 radio yesterday.

Don't even get me started on "Power".  Wasn't that getting played during the NBA Finals?  Not to mention Hot97 and Z100 STILL play that.

Watch the Throne doesn't count but Guru said that was entirely directed and composed by Kanye. Jay took a back seat.

"No Church in the Wild" and "****** in Paris" weren't tremendous records?  Are they even ever gonna release another cop movie without No Church as the music in the trailer?

I bet you're gonna claim you haven't heard "Good Life" in 6 years either, too, right? And i can. not. **** with that song at all.  But you're gonna say his music doesn't stand the test of time?

Not to even mention how many mini-me's albums like MBDTF and WTT have spawned.  Y'all over here riding Travis Scott, umm?

PRIME  you're my dude, and I'll defer to you in the anime thread, but I can't rock with you on this one.  Say you don't like something or say you don't think something, but don't say it like you're absolutely right. sheeit.

I'm not saying I'm ABSOLUTELY right, its just how I feel. Like I said fam, as a fan first, it just didn't do it for me.

I know my opinion isn't fact, but I know that theres a lot of us who put this album in and said "what the **** is this?"

Kanye has TREMENDOUS records. Power was one of my favorite Kanye tracks ever. Stronger, Amazing, etc etc. Like I said, I'm a huge Kanye fan, and this is the time I feel like he let a lot of us down as fans. But what can you do? You can't please EVERYONE all the time, and I know that. But That doesn't mean I can't be critical about his work from a personal point of view. Because I've defended the dude many times in music discussions on NT, other message boards, and offline.

I just feel like just because he's had some great tracks on a discography of albums, that doesn't make them classic albums.

i mean, Jay has had hit records on all of his albums. That doesn't mean he has 12 classics right?

I'm not saying Kanye is buns, I'm just saying this album imo is buns. Everybody misses the mark sometimes. I feel like this is Kanye's first real miss.

And I feel like he's forcing it right now.

PRIME you never got around to naming Jay-Z's classic albums, you've only talked about how such and such Kanye album is not classic.

I read your whole post and I agree with a lot of the points made. But honestly, it sounds like all you're saying is "I didn't like Yeezus".. which is fine. Every great artist has some not so great albums. But you're trying to build a false narrative around this particular subpar Kanye album, to try to convince people that Kanye is falling off or his career is going downhill. Whereas other people just see it as a creative misstep.

Ok, maybe I was extreme with the "Kanye is falling off" thing.

But Jays classics are RD, Blueprint, Black Album, and maybe Vol.1 (MAYBE).

But my feelings on this album are pretty much what I've summed up. I know for a fact that he can do better. We've heard better. And his arrogance throughout this project just doesn't match the product we've been given.

MCHG doesn't hold a candle to yeezus :wow: :wow:

  wowwwww

That's just wrong on so many levels

regardless, none of these jaunts are better than Born Sinner, and none of these joints will be better than Hall of Fame. (Yes Hall of Fame. Keep sleeping on Sean and thinking he's just a joke/gimmick.)

And none of those albums mentioned will come close to Nothing Was the Same. That'll easily be Album of The Year.

More excuses.

He tried to go left and it turned out wack. Ya'll dont have to keep tryna defend this mess.

He's still capable of making great music, so he can easily bounce back.

Cole is talented but that album is boring as ****.

That picture of Jay gets me every time.

Born Sinner is straight up library music. It's by no means a bad album, but this would be the kind of stuff I would have listened to while studying in college. Yeezus and MCHG are albums that will stay on rotation for me.

I'm not defending anything lol

I'm just saying that the production level and subject matter on this would be extremely promising for a new artist, there would be a lot of potential shown

J. Cole album stays in heavy rotation.

Listen to it every night after I drink my warm milk and get ready for bed.  If I'm not ZZZZZZZZZ by track 5, something's wrong.
Lmao. Truth though, that album is straight audio ambien.

I don't think Cole is that great of a producer. It's ok for a mixtape, but his sound gets sort of redundant because there's no diversity. It's a difference in an album being monotonous and it flowing together. He actually needs to use No ID.
