Kanye??? Self Hate???

nah
He wants approval from rich white high culture and their creative world .yet they refuse to acknowledge or accept him beyond just wearing the apparell or shoes .He is too blind to realize he could easily recruit people from his own race with similar backgrounds and do all that within his own community and culture yet he doesn't do it .He runs around to Europe to design clothes and hang with European designers and intellectuals when black ones here who have been inspired by him sit and wait from the outside looking in at one of their few representatives drive himself crazy from begging for approval from white culture gatekeepers

or maybe he runs around with these European designers because they're the best at what he's trying to get into...you're looking way too deep into it...

people have a tendency to believe that other people should help them out solely because they have the same skin color, not on the merit of their work...

roll.gif
Nah, we just have more sense than the youngins

We went from "one of the best" to Top 20 now??  If someone were to say to you "one of the best" wouldn't that mean or suggest Top 3  or Top 5 at least, as in debatable.

Not even in order, and I threw in some more just for good measure...........

1.  Nas

2.  Jay Z

3.  Outkast

4.  Tupac

5.  Common

6.  Ice Cube

7.  The Roots

8.  Rakim

9.  Scarface

1) Debatable
2) Yes
3) Debatable
4) No
5) No
6) No
7) No
8 ) No
9) No

All these artist have classics and all, no doubt but for a whole discography only Jay, Nas, and Outkast have discographies that compare.

So apparently Pac discography doesn't even compare to Ye's

Just edit your response and put "yes" for Pac so we don't have to go through this discussion now. Please.

kanye west doesnt want to do a grass roots approach he has the credibility already (yeezys lv shoes making leather hot) but the high end fashion world wont acknowledge it the corperations dont want to back him they only want to use his celebrity to sell their products and keep him as a rapper

Kanye and jay z have enough clout and money to create a high fashion company that can distribute to select vendors. The NT member biglescobar reopened ewing and got the whole catalog in sneaker boutiques around the world and producing high quality sneakers made with real leather for 100 dollars a piece. You tell me ye and hov can't meet with some manufacturers in china and do that or set up a place in America to make shoes and clothes .

Kanye is my favorite rapper, but your wilding saying that he had a bigger cultural impact the mother ******g Tupac

i'm talking about his albums, chief...Tupac is more so celebrated for his personality and views...his music wasn't groundbreaking and didn't change any shifts in hip hop...he was a gangster rapper in a era of gangster rappers...people respected him, but not to many people were trying to replicate his sound...more people were trying to replicate the Bad Boy sound...

In my eyes, Kanye's discography is better than anyone else's in hip hop. But that's just me. I wouldn't even say Kanye's a top 10 rapper, but musically, I just enjoy his albums, and all of his albums hold a place for me.

I just don't see how anyone else has a better 7 album stretch with as much of a diverse sound as what he has had.

Here's the thing with this.

It's kind of become cool to say this about Pac lately. And while people may see a glorified gangster rapper, I see otherwise. I see an artist who was extremely versatile, and was the voice of Young America during the mid 90's because of that versatility. He made Brenda's Got A Baby, Keep Ya Head Up, Then I get around, and Me against the world, and Do For Love, and How do you want it, Unconditional love, countless others. All huge records that covered a myriad of topics.

So yes, his music was groundbreaking at the time because no one was really showcasing this kind of variety in their music. He wasn't a gangster rapper. The media labeled him as that, but the records mentioned above aren't gangster. He had some gangster records, but they pale to the number of other records that he had. He has a stellar discography IMO, including his posthumous albums most of which were really good.

I will say that Kanye West's discography is amazing (minus Yeezus)

It's rare that you find an artist especially in Hip-Hop, who consistently puts out work in which the quality of it is A1 every time. Like it's incredible the amount of quality joints he's pumped out. CD, LR, Graduation, 808's, all awesome projects to me.

I kind of refrain from comparing his discographies to others because that would imply that one is better, when it's all preference. **** like that takes away from the true purpose of it all is, which is "Do you like and enjoy the music?" Yes, or not. No need to rank it. They all have great discographies and that's that.
