OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

Hold up, NWA weren't cutural leaders?

You're outta your mind, bruh.

You really have to seperate the things that depend on your personal opinion from the things that you observe objectively.

I really don't have to do that at all. But I do it anyway.

Was your argument supposed to be validated by that Nicholas Cage GIF? This and name calling is intelligent discussion?

Y'all need better leaders

Perhaps you should rethink your definition of "cultural leader" and not use that term as loosely as you seem to be.

Popular/influential does not equal "cultural leader".

If you take anything away for this, regardless of how any of us feel about Kanye West, I hope it is that.

Our cultural leaders have sucked, bruh.

But unfortunately, they were the ones leading us.

They were just terrible, unworthy leaders.

good point

cultural leader does not necessarily have to include to quality leadership

as with any other leader really

Right before Yeezus came out I expected it to be like Angry Reverse Trap Music lol . . . speaking on the conditions in the Chi over Young Chop x Travis Scott gully beats . . . .

Again, sadly, you've missed the point entirely. If you're going to claim someone as a leader, to the point of widespread influence, you need to show me the influence and leadership. He's a musician. Nothing more.

You can't just say "he's a leader" and have me believe it. That may be enough for some of you. Because it suits your belief system. But I'm not a simpleton.

If you're not leading or influencing your hometown. If so many of you want to harp on fashion (insert demasculanization argument here ) yet when I look around me I see LIMITED influence of his "fashion" in the grand scheme of things. A small percentage.

If he is just going where plenty of others have gone before, then why am I holding him in such high regard? I'm not. Nor are 95% of the people I know. And we're all part of the same culture.

None of you give me legit answers. You just keep saying "he's a leader". And it's like maybe 5-10 of you saying so.

But again, "looking at specifics" is frowned upon by you. Good luck with that  Because you have none. Again, your words say so much about how warped your mentalities are.

You're talking about Lebron and Melo as well? What have they done? Lebron has actually been challenged for how little of a leader he is. MJ was the same. And they don't have to be. But then call them such.

My points were very well laid out. You picked and chose your spots and ignored what you have no legit response to as we tend to.

If I'm trying to prove my points "in the ways of a teenager" to you, that's fine. I don't really hold you, your opinions or your thoughts in high regard. You'd probably say the same of me. I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over it. All you have is "hater" and "teenager" but nothing of substance. I haven't even used the term "stan" in any of these replies.

The irony. Straight backwards

Fam your arguing something completely different from your initial post in this thread..... me and a few others said he's a cultural leader. He is a leader in HipHop, he is a trendsetter, he is one of the driving forces in mainstream America when related to music and fashion.

Is music and Fashion not part of a persons cultural makeup?

Nobody is in here saying that he's some new Martin or something along those lines... You initially argued that he wasn't even a cultural leader in the hiphop realm that ******g asinine considering the projects he has been involved in throughout the years.

Your argument of he wasn't the first to do it flawed, is pharell not an influential producer because others have worked on hiphop & other genre's at once, Plenty of ****** have had success before Jay is he not one of the leaders of Hiphop, Puff learned most of what he's done from other businessmen is he not a leader in the world of music? the rationale that one cant be viewed as a leader or a progressive of their culture because someone did something slightly similar is ******ed.

And it's not that you focus on specifics it's that you focus on meaningless specifics. EVERYONE in YOUR hood isn't rocking high end stuff... yes that's true but let's not act like Hiphop was mentioning lanvin, Hermes, YSL, Givenchy, etc etc until ye wore it and made it "cool" to be in it. let's not act like since he has gotten his own shoe companies have been throwing out shoe deals left and right to mid tier rappers. Let's not act as if WORLD RENOWN fashion designers haven't completely changed the direction and target of their brands to incorporate certain looks that were certainly popularized by Kanye.

I focused on fashion because i figured anyone who has kept their eyes on music over the past 10 years would be able to CLEARLY see the effect that kanye has had on rap and the impact his personal music has made..... and to a larger extent his production has made on the genre of rap.

but clearly him being a dominant person in music means nothing because he wasnt the first or only one to do it

You heard new slaves and black skinhead and should've known he wasn't on that type of ****

Right. And their influence was CLEARLY visible. In both good ways and bad.

And do I call them cultural leaders? Nope.

Has anyone, EVER, suggested such a thing? Nope.

Did I ever say musicians weren't "influential"? Nope.

Which is the point my good man.
If this were true, hip hop wouldn't be a culture.

New Slaves & Murder to Excellence had me thinking Ye was gonna flip on the industry. Then he started talking about putting sweet & sour sauce on Asian girls :smh:

Really gave Yeezus a serious listen today...ended up playing it 5 times front to back.

S_ is genius.

Might be his 2nd best album.
