I said IMO. Sonically the production was the best I've ever heard. Flow from track to track, transitions within the songs, everything was executed flawlessly.  The way the whole tone and theme of the album turns on a dime from Send it Up to Bound highlights that perfectly for me.

But yeah, I did say production wise, and in my opinion. I never said it was the greatest hip hop album ever. I'm not sure but I think it's definitely up there with hip hop albums I enjoyed the most. But i recognize its flaws. I just think it's production strengths are unmatched.

I also put "hip hop" in quotes because....is this really a "hip hop" album if you're just stripping it down to the production?

I'm not sure it is and I'm not sure that's what he even wanted it to be.

And hip hop used to be DJ's scratching up soul, rock, and disco samples and people dancing to it. Rapping used to be a separate aspect of hip hop, so how is this not hip hop if we're only talking about the production?

Let me reword the statement: "I enjoy the production on this album and the work the producers and engineers did more than I have on any other album." Feel free to disagree. I wasn't stating an absolute truth.

I know all about what "hip hop used to be".

It used to be taking a small portion of soul, rock, disco records and looping them to make a "hip hop" beat.

It wasn't making a disco record and calling it "hip hop".

There's a difference.
