OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

Last night me and my friend were watching the performances from SNL while we were somewhat blazed.

When "New Slaves" was on, he goes "It sounds like music from Mario"

It KIND of does  anyone else hear it?

It sounds like clique to me but I kinda here the Mario in it....

Thought this article sums up the situation. I'd like to see a counter argument if any exist.

This is actually a really good read and kind of the way i felt about new slaves.

You really have to be above/in/understand the system to speak on it. So ye is telling people we are the new slaves...look around you...he can say that because he recognizes he is one too. All the consumerism can eat you alive. He is rich enough that he doesn't have to worry about it...but he is smart enough to see it for what it is and tell the people what is really going on. I honestly don't see anything wrong with it because he includes him self in the conversation. And to write off the entire message...over the messenger is stupid really.

All that being said....kanye has always struck me as some one who is trying really hard to be artistic it doesn't seem to really come naturally for him...which i don't think is a problem. I feel like production is his real calling. He to me is one of the best producers to ever live. But I think their are way more talented rappers out these days but Kanye's work ethic and drive and focus really put him at the top of the musical world.

Thanks for the read, pretty much how I feel about Ye at this point

Excellent Read... The Writing has been On the Wall for years!!! Ye has always expressed his distrust for the government and the Forced views and beliefs of society. From the very First album and the author of that article did a great job of finding exact quotes in the music that relate to everything he's saying on "New Slaves".... The same content was splattered all over te "Money Talk" Album of WTT and MDBTF.... they have to get to a certain point a certain relevance before they can talk about true issues and it seems as if Ye feels he's there.

He's at a level where people are FORCED to hear his message, hence why it's been this new atmosphere of Religious themes in his work (New God Flow, Power, No church In The wild) he's clearly questioning society and the restraints that are placed upon you when praising one religion. He is trying to have his music serve as something like a new gospel to the Demographic that needs the change the most & that happens to be the 16-35 African American men (Who happen to rely on hip-Hop & Pop culture the most).

Another thing about new slaves in relation to his album marketing is how congruent they are to eachother, this isn't being promoted like this because it's simply a creative and new marketing scheme Ye has gotten to a point where he literally doesn't need the corporations but he'll gladly use them the way they used him.

"**** You and Your Corporation ya'll can't control me"
so instead of using the traditional ways and choosing a single, having to choose a "Radio Friendly" song and work that, having to do giant Network award shows etc etc.... He's COMPLETELY took the situation into his own hands, his eyes are open (Hence the SNL performance his eyes start off closed, then slightly open to fully awaken by the end) he knows that all he needs is music and the people's support all the other workings of these corporation just distort his artistry the way he wants it presented.

I think this album is going to be a full out onslaught on consumerism, Racism, oppression, goverment and anything that he felt needed to be challenged and brought into the spotlight of America. Hence why he's keeping it under wraps like this. He knows if it was to be given away like say MDBTF the media and internet critics alike will blast their opinions and sway people's opinions on how they should view the album as opposed to listening to it with a clean slate.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the article. It put a lot of things in words that would have took a great effort to explain with all the references. I found it based on an argument my cousin and I were having. He was saying kanye changed etc. my point was I don't think I've ever seen an artist stay truer to themselves in my generation. Then he tried to convince me Jay-Z was more relevant, but IMO there is no modern day Jay w/o kanye. Blueprint going forward were all heavily influenced by kanye. To what extent is debatable, but even if you start with H to the Izzo, that's one of his biggest singles ever and the one I think opened up a whole mother market.
