Crazy that people are using terms like "house" and "EDM" to describe a Kanye West album.

I get his whole "experimentation" steez and all that.

But is incorporating "EDM" into your production even progressive in 2013? He already did that with "Stronger" and even "New Workout Plan".

Every Pop group has been doing that **** for like the last 5 years.
This is what I'm saying and are trying to figure out. He was leading hip hop into that direction and it's beyond beat to the ground, how does one backtrack so much? He was progressing on Graduation with those sounds, but now, in 2013? Nah b, nah.

After another complete listen I'm really feeling this album. The production is so good. That TNGHT sample on "Blood on the Leaves" :x :x :pimp:

I do agree though that this had the potential to be really great. It lacks the epicness that MBDTF had, I don't know how to describe it. "Send It Up" is terrible I really don't see how it made the album sounds just like a Travi$ Scott mixtape song :smh:

All in all, I'd give it an 8/10. It has made me appreciate MBDTF even more honestly.

^@MikeTysonTheKiller, it also helps that he kept that **** to a minimum on Graduation

I Am God
Hold My Liquor
I'm In It
Blood On The Leaves
Guilt Trip
Send It Up

:smokin :nthat: :pimp:

I am not tripping on the lyrics on this one, Kanye's CD's always have a new sound that trumps the lyrics. The production & the slick **** he always says >>>

Not really feeling the album as a whole, I actually think it's garbage. But the 2-3 tracks that are good, are GREAT. Bound 2 is straight flames. The sample is

Good CD for the car, but this won't last past a few weeks

This is only marginally better than 808s & worse than all of his rap albums.

He & Cole let me down

Bound 2 is College Dropout-esque Kanye West. The "Ohhhh, we're falling in love" is so damn smooth

You're right that people have been incorporating EDM/house into popular music for a while now. But with Kanye being the most influential figure in mainstream hip hop, we can now say that the sound has "arrived" in hip hop. Rhythm-driven house music is already popular in the UK and among certain demographics in the US, but it hadn't fully touched hip hop yet. Kanye is introducing that sound to the hip hop masses, to people who would normally listen to artists like Chief Keef. And just like everything else he's done, this will probably lead to people hopping onto that sound.

College Dropout had people on the soul sounds. Graduation had people on the techno tip. 808s made autotune really take off among rappers. And whether you liked Yeezus or not (his worst album imo), it's a good bet that everyone will be biting off this minimalist, bass-heavy rhythm style now.

Just listened to the album twice, this is a album for people who enjoy music. It's a lot of different sounds that will sound great to see it preformed live. It's real interesting the way he puts it all together. For the hip hop heads that want that lyrical ishhh. You may be upset. For the people with a open mind or know how to read to music enjoy.
