OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

I don't think he cares about money, as much as he does pushing boundaries.

Ye sees himself as a leader of the zeitgeist, and and with that comes a responsibility to push boundaries with every project.

I think it's cool that a mainstream hip hop artist in 2013 made an album like this. A black mainstream hip hop artist, who had already expanded the genre from within. It's going to lead to artists not being genre pigeonholed as much and that's a good thing.
Interesting viewpoint and I agree with the rest of your statement.

In my book change is good and I like the experimentation 'Ye exhibited with this project

In regards to the EDC talk, I was at a music festival in Chicago (Spring Awakening (80k People)) obviously not as big as EDC but a DJ played Black Skinhead on Sunday. Not many people knew what it was but people were vibin!

I heard / have a voice memo of it. It's better in some ways imo

Are you gonna share that ever or just keep it for yourself? I'd be interested to hear how much of a difference there is, especially on Black Skinheads, I Am A God and Bound 2.

Not sure if someone posted it yet, threads been getting a lot of activity: Release day!!

ya'll dudes should be ashamed riding around blasting this instead of Cole

brah dis bangs in da whip.
if im tryna be a simp ill listen to cole, but im tryna be a god so ill stick to ye

I liked it at first, but there isn't much replay value in my opinion. I find myself listening to Coles album much more, and that will probably continue.

actually ive been listening to this nonstop since the leak. even when im sleeping i keep it on repeat so it can affect my dreams and i had a scary dream the other night had me shook

Dude, dudue, I Am A God, New Slaves, and Hold My Liquor are the best tracks on this joint. The transition between them is flawless and the vibe remains the same. I can't get past these 3 tracks. The other tracks don't seem to follow the same trend. If the whole album sounded just like these 3 tracks, in terms of production and feeling, I would have rated this Kanye album up there with LR and CD. Now, some will probably feel that's silly, but son, the vibe of these tracks is incredible. So dark and sinister, full of some sort of deluded passion that I vibe too. Album reminds me of Tricky and NIN. Very dark, but the fact that this befalls under hip hop is what makes it so interesting and alluding to the sense. It does challenge the norm, but in the sense of how far a rapper can dwell into the sound of more 'dark', if you will, production while remaining relevant to the mainstream. I honestly don't know who else could get away with this in hip hop. It fits everything perfectly right now. The high fashion, the dark colors, the vibe. Damn son the vibe. I'm deriving this off of 3 tracks! I tried the others, but they just don't hold a candle to these 3 tracks. Kanye, y you do dis!? Talk about the sample at the beginning of I Am A God! Suits the songs extremely well.

tl;dr: I Am A God, New Slaves, and Hold My Liquor are the most consistent and well thought out joints on this album. Everything else is sub par compared to how well these tracks flow.
God, I am probably dwelling into delusion by how much I'm feeling these tracks loulz.

Can you recall a scene from the sessions that might help people understand his method in the studio?

We were working on a Sunday [the same day West attended a baby shower for girlfriend Kim [Kardashian] and the album was to be turned in two days later. Kanye was planning to go to Milan that night. Five songs still needed vocals and two or three of them still needed lyrics. He said, “Don’t worry, I will score 40 points for you in the fourth quarter.” In the two hours before had to run out to catch the plane, he did exactly that: finished all lyrics and performed them with gusto. A remarkable feat. He had total confidence in his ability to get the job done when push came to shove.

On the first initial spin in my car, I didn't like it. But the more I listen to the album, it's slowly growing on me. It was like this with 808s, but 808s never really grew on me much after that. Guilt Trip, Bound 2, and I am a God are my favorite songs on the album. I was kind of surprised to only see 10 tracks on the album. I don't really know with this one though. It isn't the best album, obviously, but I think its due to the fact that it just sounds different than a lot of the stuff he's done.

Bound 2 put a smile on my face because it kind of sounded like the old school Ye. But the key is, kind of.

LR>>>CD>>>>>>>>MBDTF>>>Graduation>>>>Yeezus>808s

as i said before this is a good if not great album by kanye west

but its not on the level of my dark twisted fantasy

even though guilt trip is becoming my favorite kanye song besides blame game and devil in a blue dress

WOW

No no, I'm sorry I can't upload it. I would get in trouble. Def Jam already supposedly found the dude who leaks Yeezus (he's on KTT- wasn't that difficult)

I was just saying that its different. Different lyrics in some songs, different lengths, different format, and even different songs (no "Awesome" :frown: )

Still I enjoyed the final version a lot. Just wish it had more tracks.
