it was written and LR were both solid follow ups to classic debuts, nas caught the god "phraoah" complex with i am and Nastradamus but the music didnt translate well, kanye who did very well with graduation, started to have the same complex towards 808nHB but went full throttle with MBDTF and now Yeezus, the comparison is valid bro id idc idc, ye fallen off something terribul.

But Nas still kept it hip hop...just the beats changed, and he went the commercial route. 

I mean Tone and Poke were responsible for him crossing over, along with Stoute...but I can never say Nas turned completely wack.

He just went from being a thought provoking MC to following trends.

I liked It Was Written more than Ilmatic. Ilmatic is way to old school, late 80s/early 90s sounding for me to the point that it bored me. Is Illmatic considered the better album? Sure, but I didn't personally like it more.

But after I listen to Illmatic I always realize that realistically its the better album. IWW is a classic in my opinion also. Nas was just too ahead of his time with Illmatic. Writing stuff like that at age 17 is just......mannn....

For the same reason everything Jay says is considered gospel.  

Raps fans are very hive mind.  Just go look at some of the albums they consider "classics" "trash" or "overrated" but when you ask why, they can't form one original opinion you haven't heard quoted in a rap lyric or the source.

Nas Flow =/= Nas content/wordplay/intelligence

And Distant Relatives is heads and shoulders above Watch the Throne. I don't even thinks its worth addressing the rest
