OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

I still mess with every single track on Yeezus.

The second verse on "I Am A God" is horrible tho, lol.

and "Send it Up" is still :smokin

My friend who is a bigger Yeezy stan than I am, and enjoys electronic/dance/house music hates Yeezus and doesn't like Send It up...I don't get how you can not like Send It Up.... Song just gets me hype.

lol, I like Yeezus, why don't y'all? that's all I wanna know.

I think that many of Kanye fans took their loyalty to Kanye to the level of a lifestyle.

It's like they genuinely felt that he made them Stronger and gave them the Power of a Monster. But they failed to realize that they couldn't get much higher (so hi-iiii) and upon Graduating from the Good Life they would face a lot more than just being some N**** in Paris under some Flashing Lights. Now Kanye has revealed his true Dark Twisted Fantasy and they all want to Runaway. Pfft... Can't Tell (them) Nothing. :smh:

The essays that have been written in an attempt to explain this lackluster album are just

If I need to read a book, or hanging out in Europe is a prerequisite, to enjoy a piece of music, I'll just listen to something else.

Somebody that I grew up listening to with some balls...tired of dudes being all pc with it. [/COLOR]

yeh, rappers are so pc, it's disgusting.

also, I figured A LOT of older rappers would have come out of the work with the disgust for this album.

all the wasted potential, he could have spit some 5%er knowledge on "I am God" at least, dude was talking about being served croissants expeditiously.
 Oh yeah? What "5%er knowledge" should he have spit?

Anything, he doesn't even commit to calling himself a God
he says he is a God... and a man of God... then doesn't explain any of it.

how he feature God on a wack track with no meaning?

It seems like people who don't like Yeezus, believe that the people who like this album are just lying to themselves.
Why would we do that?
For the record, I used to HATE Kanye's music.
When WTT came out I tried to tell everyone that it was bad, and that they only liked it because it was made by Kanye and Jay Z.
I still think that WTT is a bad album imo
Cruel Summer is hot garbage to me.
Why would I lie to myself when I was fully willing to hate this album? I haven't had a problem to dislike his music in the past.
Please tell me more of your opinions so I can agree with them.

Dude hung around Rae and them and just went crazy with it.

You know that concept isn't unique to the Nation right?

no, I didn't

but the song still doesn't commit to any real meaning.

and it was the song where the title was "leaked" and created a buzz, tied in with the album name, featured "GOD", and he spit worse than a Charles Hamilton freestyle on it.

In the context of hip hop it is unique to the nation.
Oh really?  Because everyone in Hip-hop has to have a 5%er view of the universe?

Or because 5%ers founded hip-hop on the idea of how everything relates to supreme mathematics and such and everyone who comes after has to pay homage to their philosophy/theology?

Because I don't get what you're saying.

Unique thoughts contrary to what you believe/expect are forbidden?

Saying "I am God" isn't a unique philosophy to any one group.

People have been saying stuff like that since forever. It's an iconoclastic declaration against the boundaries of religious ideology.

dumbest comment of the year goes tooooo....

so if a rapper uses that concept and ISN'T alluding to the nation then what?

it's still in the context of hip-hop.

i'm sorry man that was really dumb

The concept of referring to one's self as a god isn't exclusive to the 5%, but I believe the usage of "God" as a term of endearment is.

so what kind of album and marketing strategy were you guys expecting when you heard the title of the album was Yeezus?
[this is directed to everyone.]

And I'm sorry you have no insight nique...

In your poor attempt at humor I'll provide some clarity for you regarding the ideology that Kanye is influenced by.

If a rapper uses the concept, and does not refer to the nation it means nothing to a person not familiar with the terminology. That would mean you nique, and due to not having understanding, you feel as if Kanye is simply going off of instinct when he mysteriously comes out and refers to himself as a God. That's not entirely accurate because Rakim, members of the Wu, and a host of rappers in the late 80s to 90s would infuse 5% lingo into their rhyme scheme. More often than not, this was not some rapper putting up a front, and saying something for shock value, but they would actually give you substance behind what is being said, as much as they could through their songs. So in the context of hip hop, it is unique to the nation, because the first rappers to even rap about the gods and earths were influenced, and some even members of the 5% nation.

So again nique, in the context of hip hop, it is unique to the nation, and minus it's ideological influence rappers probably would not have touched on topics which stem from the teachings itself. Meaning that I would not have heard a rapper calling himself a God, a la Raekwon or Ghost if those rappers were not in some way ingrained in the teachings themselves. Now in regards to Kanye referring to himself as a God, there's nothing wrong with it per se, but it's been touched on before by rappers who are 10x's better at articulating an idea.

Prior to any five percenter getting on the mic and rhyming you never heard a rapper referring to himself, or those around him as a God. The 5% ideology has influenced hip hop since forerunners such as Rakim, and members of the Wu started to make it fashionable so to speak.

You really lack understanding if you think Kanye is somehow speaking on something that hasn't been touched on before, more so by rappers who I consider much better than Kanye.

Unique thoughts contrary to what you believe/expect are forbidden...

Mind blown.

Please break that down for me, and explain how in the context of hip hop, the nation did not have an overwhelming bearing on what a rapper brought to light, e.g., calling himself a God?

Dude.  Just stop.

At the end of your third paragraph, you concede that requiring Kanye to "Spit 5%er knowledge" is dumb.

Let's just move on.
