OFFICIAL Ye fka "kanYe West" x G.O.O.D. Music Thread - ¥$ (AKA YE X TY DOLLA SIGN) - VULTURES (NOW AVAILABLE WOWWWW)

I think I'm just happy that Kanye made a song with a pretty cool message. Yeezus left a bad taste in my mouth so this is kinda refreshing

Dudes really shedding tears to a ode about a 2 year old??

Song is meh. Sounds like a something a single mother would love tho.

Pretty much. Maybe I'm just not a tender heart, but I'm not shedding any tears over this track...it is a nice message to his child and all, but come on.

I disagree. I think you can make songs for your kids in a much better fashion than this. It's just not a good song.

I CAN'T STAND Jay Z but I thought his song "Glory" dedicated to his new born was a great song. Very nicely done.

I agree, song is good but what's groundbreaking/beautiful here? I dunno. I don't think i'll ever listen to it again.

This will probably be no.1 on the Hot 100, though.

It was an ode to his kid but a tribute to his mom. That entire song has more to do with him accepting her being gone and letting himself appreciate the good coming in his life - Kim and North. Completely different song than Glory. Kanye's song was a conversation between him and his mom being sang to his daughter. Jay's song is literally a conversation between him and his daughter. I saw Kanye's song as a release or cleansing of the grief he's still feeling. Him telling himself to let himself be happy through an imagined conversation with his mom. It was more a cathartic song about his grief than a direct tribute to his kid like Glory was. Completely different mood and emotions being expressed in the songs.

Especially the first verse

Hello 'Mari, how ya doin'?
I think the storm ran out of rain, the clouds are movin'
I know you're happy, cause I can see it
So tell the voice inside ya' head to believe it
I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel
And look at all that he gave you
You asked for one and you got two

If you were to listen to the lyrics then you'd understand that this song isn't dedicated solely to his kid, but rather his mom. Throughout the entire song it is Donda speaking to Kanye, which is what makes the song incredibly powerful and heartfelt in my opinion.

"I talked to God about you, he said he sent you an angel
And look at all that he gave you
You asked for one and you got two
You know I never left you
Cause every road that leads to heaven's right inside you"

Edit: What Lucky said pretty much sums it up.

New joint is phenomenal.

Great songwriting. Substance. Exactly what I would want from an artist of his caliber.

Yeezus wasn't "minimalism". This is minimalism and it works.

New joint is so good, I have no idea why you morons are STILL arguing about Yeezus on the last few pages.

I see not much changing for y'all in 2015
