Kanye West Turned Down $4.5M To Maintain A Las Vegas Residency

Kanye West is extremely focused on his art and is already very, very rich. How else to explain why Yeezy passed on a $4.5 million residency in Las Vegas?

Reports TMZ:

Kanye West turned down an offer that could have made him the highest paid entertainer on the Las Vegas Strip … making Celine, Britney and J-Lo look like casino lounge acts.

TMZ has learned the offer would have lined his pocket to the tune of $4.5 MILLION … for just 9 days of work. Yet we’re told he walked away from it!

According to the written offer — obtained by TMZ — Yeezus would have performed 3 shows a week for 3 weeks at the Axis at Planet Hollywood. For that he would have scored a whopping $500,000 per show.

Yeezus Christ that’s a lot of dough.

You only do **** like that when your career is close to a WRAP.

I'm sure he can do better than Planet Hollywood too

Unless that spot is some new ILL ****.

For those that aren't aware, producer Benjamin Bronfman is one of the many contributors to Kanye's creative process, as the two met during the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions a few years ago. He took to his SoundCloud page this morning to unveil a beat that was to be slated for Kanye's sonically experimental Yeezus, titled "Cruel Cold Winter."

During a sit-down with Rolling Stone, Bronfman spoke on the how the song came to fruition:
"I heard that they were working on a follow-up to [2012's G.O.O.D. Music LP] Cruel Summer," says Bronfman. "So I was just kind of riffing."

He sent "Cruel Cold Winter" plus seven or eight other beats to West, who was recording in Paris. And then: total radio silence. "I didn't hear a ******* thing," Bronfman says with a laugh. Their next contact didn't come until May 15th, 2013, at West's Adult Swim Upfronts performance at Roseland Ballroom in New York: "I got word, like, 'One of your tracks made it. It's ill. Come to the show, we'll talk about it there.'"
