Pac and Ye prob the same level of softness to be honest.

Just Ye doesn't have to try to relate to the thug culture in order to get his message across.

You can't be serious with this right here champ...........can't be.  For starters Kanye's discography is NOT among the greatest in hip hop, and real hip hop fans will tell you as such.  Not even Top 5 or even up for debate.  Now when I say "real hip hop fans" I mean people that actually know and have studied the history of hip hop.  Those that know hip hop didn't just start when Kanye West appeared on the scene.  For those of us that have seen hip hop from it's early stages or have at least studied it or researched and have knowledge.

Now see champ I can say an inflammatory comment towards you like you did towards me given you admitting that your wording was incorrect, but I'm going to be the bigger person and actually give you a pass if you can believe that or not.  So now you see that maturity level that it takes for an individual like me to deal with an individual such as yourself.  I'll just give you a pat on the back and say let's not have that happen again.................."my man"
wink.gif
.
Kanye has one of the most celebrated discographies in music...when people mention Jay or Nas, theres 2-3 albums that come up in their best album discussion..all of Ye's get mentioned...outlets have even called Yeezus his best album to date...nobody cares about your "real hip hop" tag...Ye is far beyond hip hop...

...and trying to be the mature person in a situation and then bragging about it is, ironically, on par with some Kanye ****...doesn't really speak on your maturity if you have to let everyone know you're being mature ,"champ"...
Again, I really would appreciate it if the vast majority of Kanye's fanbase would just say that the are NEW to music in general, and stop making some of these outlandish and rather foolish statements such as this.

don't play yourself deuce.

that "when people mention jay, there's 2-3 albums" line was silly though.

Actually champ, I'm trying to help some of our..........shall we say more "radical" Kanye West fans from themselves if you can believe that or not.  Now just imagine if there was a nationwide hip hop summit somewhere and someone where to say Kanye West had "one of the most celebrated discographies in music", let alone hip hop.  That person would be escorted out from the roundtable discussion immediately and thrown out of the building onto the ground....................and rightly so.  So you see champ, it's about fixing the problem before the problem gets worse.

That's not true.

You might get outta your seat and start screaming "SOMEONE ESCORT THIS MAN OUT FROM THE ROUNTABLE DISCUSSION IMMEDIATELY! AND THROW HIM OUT OF THE BUILDING ONTO THE GROUND!"

But then people would just be like "whats up with that guy?" and continue on with the summit.

We went from "one of the best" to Top 20 now??  If someone were to say to you "one of the best" wouldn't that mean or suggest Top 3  or Top 5 at least, as in debatable.

He made some good points throughout the interview, but his thoughts are kind of all over the place. I understand him wanting to make the world better but outside of music what is he doing to make the world better? A lot of what he is saying just sounds like he's pissed that it hasn't been easy to get into the fashion and creative world. He mentions companies not wanting to work with him because he's black, which I don't think is the case at all. It is clear that there aren't a lot of blacks in higher up positions at these creative companies but I feel as though companies don't want to work with kanye because he's kanye. If things go south he will publicly bash a company, or at least that's what they believe.

Some of my main takeways:
- Kanye doesn't give a **** about the music anymore. All dude was talking about was fashion. Which to me is why Yeezus sounds the way it does, it's like a soundtrack for cutting edge fashion.

- His argument about Versace and designers like that is that we all slaves to them and that they should lower the price and that when someone walks in with a nicer brand then us we immediately feel like ****. That is an insane assumption that our self worth should be determined by what others are wearing. If he really wants to break that slave mentality then he should be preaching being comfortable with what you have and what you wear. Blacks have always had that slave mentality of keeping up with the joneses and copping new louis bags. If he really wanted to crack the pavement he would shun this. You want to say **** the corporations, then don't strive to be like them.

- He's wrong on so many accounts. What did steve jobs do to that changed the internet and made it amazing. Kanye credits dude with way too much, just like he credits himself with way too much. As black skinhead plays he mentions the line about "**** your corporations" and says it's from black skinhead, when it's actually from New Slaves. How does the man not know where his only lyrics come from. Once again he doesn't care about the music anymore.

- You can tell that he does want to change things, but it's also evident that he has no idea how to actually change things and neither does anyone in his camp.

I love Kanye's music, and I love his passion, but his mind is all over the place he needs some actual focus.

Everything you just said is trolling.  So I'll rest my case here, and won't bother to engage you on this point again after this:

Calling someone Top 20 active musicians RIGHT NOW means they are one of the best.  You're out of your mind if you think there's any rapper EVER with a top 5 discography when all music genres are considered.  Kanye and Jay-Z are as close as it gets; period.

I'm not gonna pay any attention to any top discographies lists you compile that have Nas, Common, Ice Cube, The Roots, Rakim, or Scarface on them.  I'm sorry.

Factor in that arguably Common's best album ever was almost entirely a product of Kanye West, Jay's best work since TBA was a result of Kanye pushing him, and that 2/3 of Tupac's discography is posthumous and I'm gonna have to just disregard everything you said.

See ladies and gentlemen, this is exactly what I was referring to earlier when I mentioned some of the more "radical" Kanye West fans.  A large portion of Kanye's fanbase seems to not understand that there was hip hop music long before Kanye stepped onto the scene.  For a person that considers themselves a hip hop fan to ignore or turn their nose up against the name and discographies I just listed is beyond ignorant and rather preposterous.  It''s quite clear to see that we are losing recipes within the hip hop community and the "radical" Kanye West fans are not helping matters.

Bruh...Ye out here breaking down the 5 percent vs the 10 percent and the 85.......why are y'all so dismissive of dude?

Like....he's saying EVERYTHING. literally EVERYTHING cats wished he would break down he broke down in this interview.

I dunno....I get it you don't like how brash he is or you don't want to acknowledge the impact he's had....but damn if each of these videos haven't charged me the **** up each time. And I'm not one of these grown men looking for guidance, and I'm for damn sure not caught in any hype.

I feel like if anyone y'all dudes were fans of we're saying what Kanye was saying in this interview, there would be no problem whatsoever. If Ghost or Rae or Rza literally said everything Kanye said in this interview word for word then cats would be on NT talking about how more rappers need to be on that type ****. And before you try to act like they wouldn't say that stuff I really want you to think about Wu Wear, the fact that Wu was performing at high end fashion shows and starring in super artsy indie films like Black and White during the 90s.

**** that this needs to be seen... Cats in here asking questions on why he ain't doing this, why he actin like that, but not embracing the fact that he's one of the only mega stars out asking people to not follow him but to use their ****** brains and question things.

It's also very interesting to see how he said this will be pulled off the internet.... It hasn't but the media indeed has taken this from full interview... to a sub genre of topics that include Jimmy Kimmel, Arrogance, another rant, etc etc... they are trying to turn the whole thing into a joke and ignoring all the valid points in here.

This is the thing i wish Ye would work on... There was no need to throw shot at kimmel because he has to know how impressionable the avg person is and in turn his twitter rant is going to overshadow the WHOLE interview

and PLEASE stop with this kanye discography argument... It's subjective all it's going to do is make stans catch feelings and quite frankly their are SEVERAL threads in the music forum where we could discuss album rankings.

a rapper could have the 40th best discography and still have one of the best discographies in hip hop's history.

there have been literally thousands of rappers that have come and gone, gaining recognition and fading back into oblivion due to a lack of solid creative output.

so Kanye is still in that conversation.

We went from "one of the best" to "Top 20" to now "Top 40".  Tell you what, why don't we just say Kanye West has one of the best discographies in the Top 500.  That way some of the more "radical" Kanye West fans have enough room and leverage to operate.  I think Top 500 should do it.

Dog.  I know more about rap music than you.  That's a fact.  I have written academic theses and the fact that I actually rap to support that.

And you can not sit here and say to me with a straight face that ANYONE on that list you made except Jay-Z has 7 albums more universally regarded than Kanye's.

Keep flinging the word "radical" around all you want.  You're a troll.

No one in this thread can even name all 50 of ice cube, face, rakim, and the roots projects without Googling it, hell I defy anyone in this thread to name ANY of their discographies in whole off the top of their heads without consulting Google, yet somehow it's ignorant or preposterous to say most people regard Kanye's work more highly?

Dude be quiet.

You're a troll.

I agree with this. I was thinking these same things when I was watching.

Steve changed how we access the internet. He didn't change the internet itself. Zuckerberg changed the net much more than Steve. Zuck damn near changed the entire structure of the internet and how it ties into the real world. Steve merely took the real physical world aspect and made it compatible with what Facebook, Google, foursquare, etc. was doing at the time.

Kanye has a good heart I feel like, but his mind doesn't always make sense. Like, I can feel the good vibe from him at some parts of the interview, like with his dream of making uniforms for his old school in Chicago, or saying "If you're a fan of Kanye west, you're a fan of yourself". I appreciate that and respect it. But then he goes into rants about how he wants to make clothes to change the world or water bottles, and architecture. It mostly sounded like a guy who wants these super expensive hobbies but can't afford them, and big brother Jay-Z is out conquering all of his dreams, while little Kanye wants to play too. Kanye doesn't understand that burning bridges with Nike by bad mouthing them in interviews isn't going to make them turn around and say "Hey Kanye, we want to give you a Sneaker deal for X amount of years and models".

Talking bad about these corporations isn't going to make them turn around and say "Sorry Kanye, we didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Here's $80mil, go make the best product you can". Kanye isn't as marketable as Lebron James. So why would Nike invest as much time, money, and effort into him?

Kanye speaks a lot as if he's entitled to things in life. Like, just because he knows how to dress, that someone should allow him to design clothes under their already established line. Or just because he is creative MUSICALLY someone should let him build a damn building or something.

I respect and admire the man's ambition and drive, and creativity. But ****... Lets get back to reality man. Slave your entire life pushing trying to get to where some of these people are at in their profession, just like you slaved in front of the MPC. Then you'll see why they just aren't going to take you under and spend money on you.

Am I saying the man shouldn't do these things? No. I think it would be dope as hell if Kanye designed more Nike sneakers, or had a clothing line that was affordable to the hood but still kept its quality/design. I think it would be dope to see him as this crazy great designer/musician/architect. But do I think he deserves it just because he wants it? C'mon man... Stop being entitled.

I wouldn't have a problem with what he wants to do if he didn't ***** about it. He sounded like the kid who does all his chores, but gets upset when mom wont take him to toys r us afterwards.

Bound 2 grew on me though. I take back 40% of the bad things I said about that album.

Maybe 30%
