Which goes in part with trying them on and seeing them in person...but asking others what brands have shown them good quality and offering answers is probablypart of the reason for this thread.

I hate this raw denim trend, because the fanatics make it seem like they are the only types of jeans worth buying.

No, they're not. Don't get me wrong, I have several pairs of Nudies, and they're great, but they're not for everyone. They're impractical, take forever to get the desired fade, and are, of course dark colored.

I also have some of the DESPISED designer jeans like D&G, etc. and I am a bigger fan of those than the Nudies. They look better and offer much more vairetythan the Nudies. As for wear and tear, I don't do anything in them that would damage them. Wash them gently, whatever. It's not a big deal. Unlessyou're wearing them to like skateboard or work construction of something, they're gonna hold up fine.

Hey I want to step my denim up so I would like this thread to continue also.

One question is which of one these jeans fits like 501s or closet to them? Those are the tightest I can go without looking like I'm wearing peter panjeans.

karmaloop has the blue ones. they are the "standard" i got them at a shop by me though. i really couldn't tell you unless you live inminneapolis.

This thread is great so far. I have a pair of true religions and I agree they are not worth the money at all. I hope this thread can grow because I wouldreally liked to be informed when making my future denim purchase. Also to the person who mentioned the APC store where exactly is it located in soho?

Those can be bought at Vs. Social Standard in Edina, MN

We take phone orders also. Our range is teh standard and the logan, logan being slimmer than the standard. We carry the wesc standard, triumvir washed indigoand the raw black with opposite woven pockets, 10deeps slim fit indigo blue selvedge, logans in black and indigo, 2 pairs of g13 denim, and false needle blackselvedge denim........

the wesc's are very nice imo and price friendly for those new and exploring.

A lot of Japanese brands make jeans with longer inseams. 36+ usually. Check out Self Edge orDenim Bar for some denim. They should have the inseam listed.

Denim bar has a coupon for 20% off also. It's style4um I think.

only if they're the 501 STFs. when i first bought mine, which was a week ago and yesterday, i immediately soaked it w/ hot water. in order for it toshrink already. it'll lose some indigo fade but not notable. i'm on the path of experimenting these jeans, which will take a lifetime and aday.

people shrink them first because you want the 'honey combs' and whiskers to come out right,. from what i read, you don't want wear it for hellalong and then shrink it because the honey comb will look out of place, ye dig?

i'm still a rookie though so

You're right on the second part.

Honeycombs and whiskers have nothing to do with them shrinking. That just comes with wear.

Here's some good info concerning soaking. I got it from another forum:

"I would recommend a soak within the first two weeks of wear. Because of the particular nature of 3xxx denim, any settled creases before your initial soakwill constrict in water and move with the denim fibers. You're going to end up with shifted creases and combs.

The denim should be soaked before any significant wear is put into them"
