The Penn State Child-Sex Abuse Scandal Thread...Hammer dropped on PSU...sanctions galore.

the emails are from Penn State servers. they can be easily logged and brought back up.

No different from Ohio State being able to back log Tressel's emails (and phone records due to OSU issued phone)  during and after tattoo gate with Terrell Pryor.

People get really comfortable and forget their emails are not private when its done thru the company/school they work for.

If you work for companies with their own servers & email addys they can do the same thing and go back and go thru your emails
Joe Paterno's role in covering up Jerry Sandusky's child molestations grows as evidence is leaked
40 minutes ago

The Penn State administration had finally hatched a plan. It was too kind, backward and included possibly tampering with a criminal investigation. Still, it was enough of a plan that it could've stopped Jerry Sandusky, child molester, back in 2001.

Just a couple weeks earlier, a football graduate assistant, Mike McQueary, had witnessed Sandusky abusing a boy in a Penn State locker room shower. He told coach Joe Paterno. He told vice president Gary Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley. He could've been more specific. He was clearly specific enough, however, to get their attention.

Schultz plotted out a course of action, according to a bombshell report by CNN, citing an email exchange that's been uncovered in the school's independent investigation by former FBI chief Louis Freeh. The report could be released as early as next month.

In an alleged email dated Feb. 26, 2001, Schultz wrote to Curley that he assumes Curley's "got the ball" about a three-part plan to "talk with the subject asap regarding the future appropriate use of the University facility," … "contacting the chair of the charitable organization" and "contacting the Department of Welfare," according to a source with knowledge of the case.

EVIL 101: 3 Penn Staters referred to Sandusky as "the subject" & Coach Paterno as "Joe" to evade open records email searches

lol we all knew paterno knew and was the man who put a stop to it. if a scandel like that ever got out he knew his legacy would be tarnished. so he chose to keep it quiet. you guys in denial are thinking too much about football. paterno is god at penn state. what he says goes

only thing I ever learned in law class...if you're gonna do shady business, NEVER do it over e-mail!
but w/ all this uncovered, everyone involved can rot in hell

Damn, Paterno had two choices. 1)One that would forever immortalize him more than he already has been at Penn State. He could've been the one to stop Sanduskys reign of terror. or 2)Do absolutely nothing and protect the name of the program he dedicated his life to.

And with that e-mail, it sucks to see that he chose the latter. Honestly, if it is true (which it most likely is) I hope they uncover EVERYTHING incriminating Joe Pa. And that the University removes any ties to him, including the library and what not. I don't want to go to a school that hasn't severed ties with him.

In other news, the new president Rodney Erricson has been very good with the whole situation. He sends out emails to students periodically keeping us informed on what is going on. He also provides outlets on campus for people to talk about this entire situation. And he recently sent out an email saying how to report any wrongdoing and to not be scared to speak up. I feel like he's going to be good for the school and going to lead the long process of getting out of this mess

Folks wanted a picture painted of Joe Paterno as a naive old man...when that couldn't be further from the truth.  He WAS Penn State

Everything done in the dark shall and WILL come to light.

Disgusting! I wonder what all those students who rallied like idiots have to say now.

Disregarding basic morals, Reporting that monster woukd only help your legacy so I don't understand going the cover up route if he was acting for selfish motives

And yeah those kids chanting are probably ashamed

They seriously need to blow up the entire athletic department/administration and start over from scratch. Nobody should keep their jobs. This is pathetic. If any school ever deserved the death penalty its Penn State. JoePa pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. Dude is as crooked as the rest of them.

Not to throw dirt on the dead but Paterno was more than likely molesting kids as well. You'll never convince me he was covering for Sandusky because they where such good pals, his %%% was on the line as well. He couldnt throw Sandusky to the wolves and have his dirty laundry exposed, one hand washes the other now Sandusky falls on his sword and everybody can pretend he was acting on his own. Joe Pa's legacy dosent take anymore of a hit I think thats why that old man was in the ground so fast to try nd protect his money as best you can split it up amongst his aires people wanna sue him later they'll get nathan.

just my 2 cents tho

Look at the big picture....aka the cashcow that IS the Penn State football team.  They bring in MILLIONS to the university each year.  That money takes a severe hit if Sandusky is turned in.  The selfish motives is keeping the football team/recruiting up to HIS (Joe Paterno) standards.  You're going to lose money/recruits the second word gets out that your DC was molesting boys in the showers at the football complex.  That would take some time as far as rehabilitating the image of the coaches on the staff and the program that's being run.  The time Joe Paterno lost would ultimately lead to him potentially NOT passing Eddie Robinson on the all-time wins list.  Football took precedence over just about everything at Penn State.  Morals/ethics included.

See, people like yourself are why I'm not with all the anti-'PSU as a whole' talk. The student body, the faculty, they had nothing to do with any of this. And it's sad that people would take the 'all or nothing' thinking to the point of throwing the entire campus... cafeteria, library, labs, counseling centers, tennis courts, theater, you, EVERYTHING... all to hell.

Thanks bro. I'm not even going to lie, I was supporting Paterno the entire time and hoping that he didn't have his hands dirty in this. But as soon as I heard about the emails, theres no disputing it. He was in on it. As much as he did for the University, I just cannot back someone who harbored a child molester. Human lives>>a school

To dude who said Paterno was also molesting children; chill with all that

Theres no evidence of that whatsoever. I mean covering it up is just ad bad, but still. I dont think Paterno was molesting children.

Dont you think there would be ONE victim or piece of evidence to come out to support this if true?  Come on now.

I knew this all along, JoePa may not touched those kids but he damn well knew what was going on. I hope they tear up everything that bears that old man's name.

For those you who say the students and faculty are not to blame, while that is true I think you need to punish the whole school because of the culture that was developed there. The students and faculty and fans created the culture of allowing Paterno to be a God and hyping him up as all knowing. The entire school needs to be punished for this by giving them the death penalty in football.

But I am sure that won't happen an ESPN will be ready to put their games on national tv and start the "redemption phase" of all this.

^ Penalizing school for having a heralded figure is a quick way to just wipe every school in the country.

I mean, even elementary schools.
