The Penn State Child-Sex Abuse Scandal Thread...Hammer dropped on PSU...sanctions galore.

by not reporting the accusation to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution and jailing, Sandusky was able to continue working with Kids under his "charitable foundation"

If the police get involved and stop this guy after the 1st incident, it prevents how many other kids from being victims.

I also immediately questioned the not being specific part. So then what exactly went down there? This is sick and once again, there is no room for ambiguity. We all can see what happened here.

%%@$!+@ scum. And shame on this dude defending Paterno.

In reading some of the reports and other things coming out, it makes me almost sick to my stomach.  No joke.  For those not facing a prison sentence, heads need to roll on this one due to negligence.

It's inexplicable how Paterno and anyone else who KNEW of what Sandusky was accused of, allowed him to be around campus.  I just don't get how you can turn a blind eye to that.  How is your first thought when you see Sandusky not "look at this pedophile?"

Think about the LIVES that were ruined because of what was being permitted.  If the proper steps were taken, there might be some innocence(sp?) preserved with some of the children who were violated.  Awful...just awful.

By no means am I trying to make fun, but are you guys aware of his autobiography? It's honest to god called Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story

"I wish, sometimes, that I could press a button to bring back the times when life was so much simpler with the kids. The times when they didn't worry about what they were missing with drugs, alcohol and sex," he writes. "They didn't have to worry about protection from AIDS and HIV. They enjoyed life's simple pleasures in a naive time; a time of make-believe. There were simple activities and worthwhile outlets. People just enjoyed each other simply as people."

Anybody that had knowledge should be held accountable.

Hope Sandusky lives a life filled with pain for his remaining years.

Preying on children is without a doubt the most cowardly and disgusting act IMO. I don't believe these POS should be given a second chance. Especially is he is a serial rapist.

This type of +#!$ is why I hate college sports...Wouldn't have happened if Paterno was booted off the sideline a decade ago like he should but cause of the paternalism inherent ins college sports we have to watch this senile old man walk up the sidelines like he is really actually performing any service.

Dude is really just there for the presence on the field. He's too old to perform any service to the team. From what I have heard, it's his sons and the other coaches doing all the coaching. Dude will probably be gone after this season, Urban Meyer will probably step in. This weekend will be a very emotional game. Very important game against Nebraska from a football standpoint. Most likely Joe Paterno's last home game. We'll see how the university and community comes together in light of the tragedy.
It truly sickens me to think that Sandusky used or even made his foundation to prey on kids. Respect and condolences go out to the families

exactly. this isn't tattoos or selling championship rings.

Eleven years ago, he retired to focus more attention onSecond Mile, the program he had founded for troubled youth"
He could havebeen a head coach a couple places, but he really he backed away because theywere going to ask him to give up some things in The Second Mile."

I was on the phone with my mother today and she wasdisgusted when I told her about the Second Mile. She said, "This is whathappens when people's wants and desires become so important. They do selfishthings that greatly affect the lives of others."

I hate college sports too. There is so much corruption, it's not even funny. I personally know 9 people that played D1 bball & fball at major schools. 1 has a final 4 ring (bball) & 2 have national championship rings (fball). All of them have told me all kind of stuff that goes on.

College coaches (97% of them at the big time D1 level) live in a vacum. Their perception of reality of really messed up. They are surrounded by yes men & are catered to like crazy. This happening doesn't suprise me at all.

Urban Meyer can have just about ANY job he wants in college football..

1)  Why would he go to Penn State

2)  Why would he go to Penn State in the wake of this scandal?

Probably be a "coach in waiting" on the staff....I can't see a big name going there immediately with everything that's going on.  Football will be secondary (for whoever is hired)....there needs to be a MASSIVE PR job to give the team/school a good image.  THAT will be the priority.

So cause he is a stubborn +@@*+*@ he gets to basically be a glorified mascot...If he's not the real head coach, who do they turn to when *!$@ like this happens...It distorts the rank of authority on the team.  He should have been let go a decade plus, he has only damaged the image of Penn State football and the lives of children now.  And why? Cause he won two national championships...So what? Football is a young man's game and he should have been out beyond a decade ago, only college sports is this corrupt and +*!!## up to let him parade around like he really has a purpose out there.

Good point. Before this scandal, Meyer was a top candidate. He's been sitting in on practices all season. Now? It won't be him.
And yes it will take a MASSIVE PR campaign to repair the university's image. This university prides itself on honor. And they've done a VERY good job in keeping that image for the last several decades. And now it's all screwed up because of the actions of a select few out of almost a million people who represent PSU. It'll take YEARS to bounce back from this. SMH, makes me feel  a little sick to be getting my degree from this school after this incident.

I do think the Paterno exit strategy is going to be really intriguing. How people are going to act, how the media is going to swarm, how even Paterno is going to snap at the thousands of questions about this at his press conferences (we see how he gets). This is going to get ugly. And this is indeed his last year.

I don't know how these things work but I would not be surprised if the school and his sons pulled him away from media duties for the rest of the year and had an assistant take over. Im not seeing An 84 year old man propped up there answering questions and taking the heat even if it is Paterno.

I've been asking myself the same questions ever since I was old enough to follow football. Then I stepped foot on campus last year and I just knew. He is a god here. More important than president spanier, more important that any alum. Like words literally cannot describe how big that man is to this university. Every single day you will run into something that has to do with him. They adore him because he has been here so long. All the parents and grandparents who attend games were all here during the Paterno era. It's because of the emotional attachment they have to the man. No one really has the heart to force him out of the job. They believe he has earned the right go out how he wants. He literally put this school on the map. All this success the school has seen is largely in part due to his contributions.

Embattled former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky continued to be a presence around the Penn State football program up to his arrest Saturday on child molestation charges, including working out multiple times in the teamâs weight room just last week, according to multiple sources within the football program.

At this point, with more of the details coming out....I don't think even a man of Paterno's stature has the right to go out when he wants.  I really think he's done and won't finish the year.

This is literally the most vile college sports scandal I've ever seen. How could a man that is a father and grandfather do the bare minimum when it came to allegations of abuse against children? Nothing gets me more upset than when adults molest kids and I'm not even a parent. You would think a man so revered for being a father figure would step up but I guess as long as the penn state brand was involved, getting a molester off the streets and behind bars was way too much to ask.
